Seattle Seahawks teach us a lesson

This weekend, like millions of other Americans, I was glued to my television screen, watching the NFL playoffs. I have a confession to make: with 5 minutes left in the championship game between the Seattle Seahawks and Green Bay Packers - and with Russell Wilson's third interception, and Seattle two touchdowns behind, I turned the channel, assuming that Green Bay had won the game.

Upon turning back to the game, I was shocked to see Seattle ahead by one point. Seattle ultimately won the game in overtime and is going to the Super Bowl. During his post-game interview, Wilson said despite those three interceptions and trailing late in the game, his team refused to quit and kept fighting. Please note that Wilson did not waste energy verbally beating up receivers for dropping balls, nor did the linemen stop blocking for their quarterback after he threw three interceptions. They stuck together, laser-focused on defeating their nemesis, the Green Bay Packers, rather than each other. Brother and sister patriots, this game was like revelation for me - the parallels between what happened with the Seattle Seahawks and what is happening in politics for our conservative movement are striking. I hate it that we are so quick to kick a courageous patriot to the curb who fumbles the ball during an interview or is targeted by the Democrats and mainstream media for standing up for conservatism.

I think about those folks on the conservative side who run for the tall grass whenever one of our prominent conservative leaders is disparaged in the media. How many times must we be told that we have to abandon public support for a conservative leader because they are "too toxic." And guess who we allow to determine who is "too toxic" of a conservative? The media, the Democrat Party, and the political establishment. All of us whine and commiserate about Barack Obama acting like a monarch, with no one out there attempting to stop him. Well, we cannot have it both ways. Whoever takes on Obama is going to be trashed by the Democrats, the media and the political establishment. Have you noticed the pattern? Anyone on our side who strongly pushes back against the Left or does not let the racist stupid inmates run the asylum, we are told is toxic and must be kicked to the curb lest we suffer sure defeat. We have seen it happen so many times. Tonight Barack Obama will deliver his State of the Union address, and based on the early leaks of his speech, it seems almost certain that Obama will be pushing America further down the path towards socialism. "Free" stuff from the government. Redistribution of wealth. Tax those who are successful and demonize them to the public. And take more power away from the individual and hand it over to a corrupt federal government that has endless powers over the citizenry. This is lunacy folks - Obama is doing real, terrible, long-lasting damage to our great Republic, and we have to fight back. We can't throw up our hands in despair and give up. And when conservative leaders stand up to fight Obama, and are then 'destroyed' and smeared by the media, we can't abandon them. We here at the Conservative Campaign Committee will be among those standing up to fight. We believe that we can achieve victory for our ideas and ideals if we champion them, celebrate them and proclaim them without shame, reservation or hesitation.
