Christian faith, God, Bible, President of the Unitted States

See it all from God’s perspective!

I do not speak for God. But the events of the future are laid out before us in many places of the Bible. So while I am in agreement with many of the writers here at CFP in their statements about our current Occupant in Chief of the White House, I am not rattled by a man who obviously "hates" America, is a puppet of the wealthy and politically powerful Left.

Joan Swirsky's powerful column took note of the many instances this president has apologized for, shown arrogance toward, and generally dissed America and those who hold to its foundational freedoms. It's a great read and a reminder of how far away we have moved from the intentions of those who pledged their all to establish this great experiment in democracy. If you talk about this administration for any length of time with someone of the Christian faith, you inevitably will hear something like this: "God put leaders in their positions and we are supposed to be obedient to them." Of course there are variations, but you get the idea. Since God is in control (and He is) then Christians should just pray for their leaders and support them. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. While it is true that God is in control, He does allow people to have their way, even if it is not in their best interest. When God wanted Israel to honor Him, they decided they wanted a king to lead them. God's system of Judges turned sour for the Jews and in the end truth became relative. The line of Kings had some success but the sins of the kings and the people ultimately led to their captivity. God was still in control, even though the people were given what they desired over God's will for them. There is ample evidence in the Bible that God allows leaders to be placed in authority not based on His will, but on the desires of humankind. All too often this is misunderstood by the heathen as well as the Christian. It is used to try to beat believers into submitting to earthly authority. But in reality, God is the ultimate authority we must follow. When those who are in high places make laws contrary to God's word, it is incumbent on the believer to oppose them. Just because something is declared LEGAL does not make it MORAL. Morality used to be the basis of our legal system. But as we see at the end of the Book of Judges-- everyone did what was right in their own eyes. We have now moved from the time honored and sacred checks and balances of political power to an unchained presidential monarchy. Don't tell me that this is God's will. Remember He allowed the Israelites to be taken into captivity because they chose to follow their own desires. His will was that they would love, obey, and honor Him and possess the land. While God is sovereign, His will is not always done here on Earth as it is in Heaven!
