Shocker: potential 2020 Dem candidates have not asked Hillary for advice

Shocker: potential 2020 Dem candidates have not asked Hillary for advice Usually, a party's losing presidential nominee will still hold some sway with the next crop of candidates. Whether they mean it or not, the party's top brass will throw the former candidate's name around, extoll their many virtues, and perhaps produce some sort of "role" for them to play in the nominating process. The candidates themselves will kiss the ring, and seek endorsements or aid from defeated, but still relevant, political machines. Think about Mitt Romney. Almost immediately after the 2012 election (right up until Trump secured the nomination) there were constant, repeated, calls for team Romney to select an heir-apparent, or to throw their own hat back into the ring. Heck, there are a few Romney die-hards who are still trying to coax him back into politics.

Hillary is persona non-grata

That's normal. That's how it usually goes. ...But that's not how it's going for Hillary Clinton. According to the defeated 2016 candidate, the phone isn't ringing. No one's asking for advice, support, or anything else. As she told Hugh Hewitt:
"Nobody’s actually been to see me. I see Democrats all the time, and nobody has said ‘hey, I'm going to run’ or ‘I'm thinking about running. Give me advice now,’ because it is too soon. There may be some private planning going on by some people; I wouldn't know who, I wouldn't hazard to guess. I haven't had those conversations in large measure because I've said I'm going to focus next year on 2018, and then I'll be happy to talk,"
Uh-huh. Sure. Anyone buying that? First and foremost, you can tell Hillary is persona non-grata because she's talking to Hugh Hewitt. This is a woman who never talks to conservatives - let alone those she likes to portray as her favorite boogeyman: right wing talk radio hosts. The fact that she's deigned to speak with one of the deplorables suggests that her fortunes have truly turned.

Hillary Clinton: One of the most toxic political figures in history

More importantly, no one is seeking her advice and support because she's made herself one of the most toxic political figures in history. Think of it from the Democrat perspective.... Here's a woman who should have easily trounced Donald Trump. Instead, she shafted the guy her base loves, cheated her way to the nomination, drove white working-class Democrats away by telling them they were hateful racists that her party didn't need, told people of faith that their beliefs are flawed or misplaced, embarrassed herself and her allies via a series of awkward photo ops, ran a completely dysfunctional campaign, ignored the rust belt, and lost - badly - to the man Dems consider to be the absolute worst person on the face of the Earth. In fact, she's so awful that DNC higher-ups have spent the last month throwing the Clinton family under the sexual harassment bus - desperately hoping that it will be the thing that finally, mercifully, rids them of their 90's-era political albatross. Yet, she still won't go away. ...And that's why no one is asking her for help. She's the only who's still unwilling to accept that her dynasty has come to an end. Like a house guest who can't take a hint, she refuses to exit gracefully. So, she's being cold-shouldered towards the door.
