Should “Crosshairs” Be Added to FCC List of Banned Words?

In the aftermath of the tragic massacre of innocent people in Tucson, some liberal pundits have gone absolutely goofy about the word, “Crosshairs.”

For the record, according to the dictionary, crosshairs is defined as follows: “Fine wires or fibers, strands of spider web, or the like, crossing in a focal plane of an optical instrument to center a target or object or to define a line of sight, and “Marks for aiding in the positioning of overlaying images for correct registration in printing.” Hmmm. Not a word there about Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, or Glenn Beck, or any other right wing nut pushing for the slaughter of liberals, or anyone else for that matter. Even though use of the term by conservatives has NEVER included an express or implied call for violence, a leftist journalist with CNN felt it necessary to apologize for the use of crosshairs by a guest. The on-air statement by CNN's John King:
"Before we go to break, I want to make a quick point. We were having a discussion about the Chicago mayoral race. My friend Andy Shaw used the term 'in the crosshairs' in talking about the candidates. We're trying, we're trying to get away from that language. Andy is a good friend, he's covered politics for a long time, but we're trying to get away from that kind of language."
That kind of language, John? Perhaps cross hairs should be added to the FCC list of seven dirty words?
