Sly anti-Semitism

Europe has always been a place where it’s been easy to push a Jew around. Now, the rhetoric of anti-Israelism has filtered down to the neighborhood bully.
This negative talk about Israel gives him the opportunity to spit on his local Jew. It gives him the license to hurl insults and worse. What this thug is doing as he assaults the local Jew is saying, “See! I said you Jews were bxxxxds!” In the past he would have shouted, “Get the hell out of here! Go to Palestine where you belong!” Now he has the chance to bully the local Jew by jeering, “Get the hell out of Palestine! You don’t belong there!” Of course, he wouldn’t want them to come to his location. Let them wander the face of the earth. Homeless. Stateless. The eternal Wandering Jew. Then there are the others. The ones that say, “I’m not anti-Semitic. Some of my best friends are Jews. It’s just Israelis I hate.” They have to state their objections against Israel and their sympathy for the Palestinians. There purported love of the Palestinians is disingenuous. If truth be told, they can’t stand the Arabs at all. And the hole in their narrative in where the decades of violent, war-like, terror-laden anti-Semitism of the Arab world, now spearheaded by the Palestinian cause, has murdered Jews incessantly. This awful history is now a void. No matter it continues to this day, it is still an empty space in the tainted monologue against the Jewish state.

Then there are those whose intellectual capacity goes no further than throwing vacuous, easily disprovable political insults at Israel. You know the type I mean. That Israel is a fascist country. It is an apartheid state. That Israelis practice ethnic cleansing, genocide. That Israeli Jews are baby killers. Israelis are Nazis. The list goes on and on. Ever tried discussing the issue with these shallow-minded bigots? You can’t get past one insult before their response is yet another. There is no substance you can debate with them. Their mind has been stuffed with the polemic of bias and hate. When Israelis were being slaughtered by Arafat’s murderous henchmen and suicide bombers the world didn’t express much sympathy. They went silent. No expression of horror over pictures of dead Jews on buses or in cafes. Just silence. It was when Israel began to defend themselves and go after the terrorists that rumbles began to be heard. Jews fighting back make certain people’s attitude change. For them a Jew winning is a bit of a problem, but it does give them the chance to voice their opinion. It’s an opinion that expresses itself as, “look at those Jews picking on that poor Arab!” No context. No background. Not factual. It’s just a selective one-sided anti-Jewish statement that slips so easily into the conversation, into the newspapers and on to the TV screens. It’s what I call “sly anti-Semitism.” You can see it where ever you look. It’s in the media. It’s in public statements by politicians and diplomats. It’s on the campus, and it’s chanted in street demonstrations. Basically, it’s nothing more than sly anti-Semitism, as if that wasn’t bad enough! This is an excerpt from my upcoming book ‘Fighting Hamas, BDS, and Anti-Semitism.’

Barry Shaw——

My opinion was formed from living in Israel, witnessing the horror of terror, reading the misinformation and downright lies perpetrated by the Western media, seen the incompetence of Israeli leaders to project the facts. My website comes from a particularly personal perspective. The articles may be controversial and provocative. For whatever strikes Israel today will surely visit you tomorrow.
