Speaking in ‘nuanced’ code

Re: Putting Harper on the spot, Editorial Jan. 8 Published On Tue Jan 10 2012 When the Star advises the Harper government to return to “our traditionally more nuanced stance in the Middle East,” readers of the publication understand the coded message.
Return to the days when victims of terror are treated in the same “objective” manner as the terrorists. The Star’s yearning for the return of the “nuanced messaging” days means Canadian UN votes automatically being cast against an ally in the Democratic camp in favour of dictatorships and states supporting terrorists. The Star’s bias against the democratically elected government of Israel by calling it “right wing” when it should properly be identified as being progressive conservative both in social and foreign affairs is a continuation of the campaign to discredit Israel even at a time when extremists in the region are gaining control as a result of the Arab Spring.

Exactly who are Canada’s Arab partners that the Star invokes? Which one of our supposed Arab partners has a proven historical record of free elections,a free press and an independent judiciary? Canadians elected a majority government based on a track record of principled domestic and foreign policies not coded and “nuanced” practices.
