Stephen A Smith Ought To Announce He's A 'Rockefeller Republican'

It also might save him the trouble of pretending he doesn't have more in common with Republicans than he clearly does—a fact detractors at the NABJ made painfully clear;

Here's a thread hot off of my 'X' account and shared.with you:

'Commentator Stephen A Smith ought to drop the Independent political label and announce himself as a 'Rockefeller Republican', something vilified by today's right that's surely needed on its cultural and social service fronts. The recent thumbs down vote from the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), of which he's a member and benefactor, is perfect timing to make this political pivot.

He's a capitalist and corporatist through and through but still assists community members and speaks out on racial issues

While we're generally unwelcome on the right in many community minds, we nonetheless need authentic representation there to fight for our community instead of parroting its ideology.

'Stephen A' would be perfect and offer wary Black non- leftist Independents an ambassador to a perceived hostile political party.

He's a capitalist and corporatist through and through but still assists community members and speaks out on racial issues, unlike national Black conservatives who do neither.

Figures like US Senator Tim Scott and podcasters Jason Whitlock or 'Officer Tatum' simply have no crossover appeal to large segments of their own community.

I'd like to see how a GOP-affiliated 'Stephen A' would take on suspected 'Boomer/Gen X' civil rights grievance and 'Gen Z' groyperism from inside the so-called Republican 'big tent.'

He represents the other Black middle class: one not bound to the DNC yet critical of the RNC.'

As we near a sure-to-be contentious 2028 presidential election cycle, Stephen A. Smith announcing himself as a 'Rockefeller Republican' would be a significant shift in the partisan order of battle at a crucial time.

It also might save him the trouble of pretending he doesn't have more in common with Republicans than he clearly does—a fact detractors at the NABJ made painfully clear.
