Suicide Is the Devil’s Con Game

Suicide Is the Devil’s Con GameSuicide appears to be a way to escape the suffering that we are going through. A way to “end it all.” But that’s a bald-faced lie. Why? Because we have an immortal soul that (for better or for worse) will live forever. Therefore, it is impossible to “end it all.” That cannot be done. Because our soul will live forever, all that suicide can accomplish is to make us go from here to some other place. And the last thing that we did while we were here on earth is to commit premeditated murder – against ourselves. And then we will have to face God and account for what we did with our lives.
Therefore, the idea of suicide is a fraud. It’s something that the devil (the ultimate con artist) uses in order to trick people into throwing away something precious (the life that God gave them). Some people commit suicide thinking that they can “end it all.” But that cannot be done because they have an immortal soul. Therefore, the idea of “escape” is a fraud. It cannot be done. In addition, people who commit suicide wind up creating a new problem. Why? Because they leave planet earth while in the act of rebelling against God. And they will have to answer to God for doing that. How can I say that they are rebelling against God? Because the commandment “Thou shalt not kill” applies to killing ourselves as much as it does to killing other people.

The Importance of Choosing Life

Here is a Scripture passage that very much relates to all of this. Through Moses, God said this to Israel. But it also applies to each and every one of us. (I’ve put something in bold for emphasis.) “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19)

I am the way, the truth, and the life

All of us need to choose life. Constantly. On a daily basis. Sometimes on an hourly basis, or even a minute-by-minute basis. In practical terms, choosing life means deciding to do things God’s way, as set forth in the Bible. In other words, obeying God instead of following our own carnal inclinations. Jesus gives us life. But more than that, Jesus IS life. He said:
“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” (John 14:6)
Therefore, choosing life is a way of choosing Jesus. And to reject life is a way of rejecting Jesus.
