Super(man) Tuesday?

I’ve lost count of how many debates (also called cage matches) I’ve watched and I realize it doesn’t matter to what will be the outcome of Super Tuesday.
Day after day we’re bombarded with anti-Trump articles from the Left and the Right. As an experienced political observer, I cannot remember seeing and hearing the enormous amount of vitriol, disgust, lambasting, and hand-wringing by so-called conservative writers, GOP establishment politicians and social commentators that has been aimed at Donald Trump. One has to wonder if Trump is the GOP nominee, if any of the haters will tone it down or get on the Trump train and, if not, will spend their time continuing to blast the leader of the pack all the way to November! Soon they may face a reality that no one thought possible some 7 months ago. Nominee Trump could become President Trump. What really scares them is this: He could go all the way without them. If Trump takes the lion’s share next Tuesday and continues to lead in Florida and Ohio, I believe the party will reluctantly concede and try to work to win in November. I should say I hope. If the hatred extends all the way to Election Day, imagine the volumes of hate press and media Trump will get—his first 100 days will be no honeymoon. It’d be an unprecedented beginning to four years or more of non-stop attacks.

There may have been a small break in the ice jam. Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) announced this past Wednesday that he will support Trump for the Republican nomination, making him one of the first members of Congress to endorse Trump. That same day, Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.) said that he is backing Trump, saying he has the "guts and fortitude" to get jobs back from China and to take on foreign threats such as the Islamic State and North Korea. And while the establishment’s last hope, Marco Rubio escalates his attacks on Trump, it appears he may be turning off as many as he is gaining from the raucous debate. The greatest victory of this political year has been the focus on illegal immigration, the barrage against political correctness, and the realization that after 7-plus years of weak leadership and intentional disregard for the rule of law, most patriotic Americans are focused on the desperate desire to win again. To win on trade, to win in battle, to win in the courts, to win against the creeping blob of socialism that the democrats have embraced and rolled with for the last couple of generations. If only our next president would win for our side!
