The harsh realities of warfare, especially the current non-state actor style we face, stand brutally immune to limp wristed liberalism. We face pathologically enraged enemies who cannot be treated with kid gloves- period. I type this as someone who isn’t a neo-conservative. I’m a realist when it comes to stopping foreign psychopaths and as such, don’t believe in enabling them.

Against such profound danger, ACLU-friendly, DNC-approved niceties fall perilously short of ensuring national security. We can wince at the particulars but should also mentally replay scenes from September 11th and You tube beheadings to remind ourselves these guys aren’t cub scouts. Unless such men are broken, psychologically and physically, soft polices are complicit in inevitable death tolls coerced confession would have stopped.
The specter of partisanship also looms over the timing of this hotly debated CIA interrogation report by Democrats still reeling from losing the House and Senate in the 2014 mid term cycle and also smarting from the foot-in-mouth excess of the recent Gruber debacle. While US Senator John McCain isn’t a Democrat, his opposition to enhanced interrogation are duly noted. I honor his suffering at the infamous Hanoi Hilton during the Vietnam conflict, but respectfully differ on this topic.
I can sum up my support of enhanced interrogation techniques like water boarding with one phrase, ” surf’s up! “
