The Wind Cries 'Bailout'

T. Boone to pick taxpayer wallet?

T. Boone Pickens’ quest to line his pockets by having Congress increase demand for more expensive natural gas at taxpayer expense continues.
Politico reports:
T. Boone Pickens finally has a bipartisan Senate bill to tout. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Sens. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Richard Burr (R-N.C.) on Tuesday introduced their version of the NAT GAS Act, which supports the drive by Pickens to produce more natural gas-fueled vehicles.

The bill would extend tax credits for vehicles and refueling infrastructure and would be paid for by a temporary user fee on the sale of liquefied natural gas and compressed natural gas sold for use as a motor vehicle fuel. The fee is separate from an excise tax on liquefied and compressed natural gas and would be phased in starting at 2.5 cents in 2014 and 2015, ramping up to 12.5 cents for 2020 and 2021 and then expire in 2022.
