The B1 Bridge between Karaj and Tehran was never opened to public traffic. It wasn’t complete. The original opening was delayed — first by a year, then again — because Iran’s Islamic socialist economic model couldn’t finish a bridge on schedule. As Tousi put it: "The Islamic Socialist economic policies are not really competent."
So why was it hit? Two reasons.
First, the symbolism. The strike was part of the broader “we’re going to hit your infrastructure” campaign — but the U.S. deliberately chose a target that wasn't carrying civilian traffic. That’s not a war crime. That’s precision.

Second — and more importantly — while the B1 Bridge wasn’t open to the public, it was open to the IRGC. "The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, over the last few weeks, were using the B1 Bridge to transport military equipment between Karaj and Tehran." The strike cut a critical IRGC logistics route between two major cities while leaving civilian infrastructure intact.
That’s the part Iran’s propaganda machine will never tell you. The bridge they’re parading as evidence of American brutality was an unfinished, unopened military logistics corridor for the Revolutionary Guard. The only traffic it carried was weapons.
They hit a military route and called it precise. Iran called it a war crime. The footage tells you who's lying.
