Republican Party and its leadership is so incompetent as to be a bad joke

The gang that can't scoot straight

When it comes to screwing up there's no one more proficient than the 292 Republican members of Congress. They couldn't properly handle a case a diarrhea if their lives depended on it. Think about it; in 2008 the Democrats were handed both houses of Congress and the White House. They then proceeded to pass the Affordable Care Act (ACA) aka Obamacare, the single most unconstitutional and draconian piece of legislation ever to come out of the US Government, Chief Justice Roberts notwithstanding. Ever since, Republicans have vowed to repeal and/or replace this travesty with a plan that makes sense.
"Just give us the House of Representatives," they bleated and we can change it. So America gave them the House in 2010 and they blustered and strutted and swaggered. And yet, they couldn't or wouldn't deliver on their promises. "If only we had The Senate." the Republicans whined, "then we could really fix it." So America once again trudged to the polls in 2014 and gave the Republicans a majority in both houses of Congress. And they bumbled and fumbled like a legally blind center fielder, as Obama and the Democrats hit run after run. "We can't do anything because we don't have enough votes to override a veto." They moaned. "If only we had a Republican president to add to our majority, then we could repair the damage." So last fall the impossible happened in the form of Donald Trump being elected President of the United States and Americans were sure that now the Congress would be able to act and get the job done. Except, they can't. The recent fiasco over the repeal of the ACA is indicative of one of two things: either the Congress does not want to repeal the Act or they're so incompetent that they all need to be moved on.

Let's look at the first option; what would Republicans gain by maintaining the status quo? For openers, the K Street pipeline would continue to spew cash toward their reelection coffers, as the insurance industry, the American Bar Association's trial lawyers and pharmaceutical companies are vehemently opposed to the establishment of healthcare regimen that puts individual Americans ahead of their pecuniary interests. Then there's an entrenched bureaucracy eager to keep their lips glued to the government teat, as well as some 20 million Americans that would lose "free" coverage. After all, the concept of having young, healthy people pick up the tab for those in need of more additional medical care is the American Way! Finally, there's the fear of the unknown, of upsetting the applecart and creating unforeseen problems no one anticipated the same way the ACA spawned a plethora of unintended consequences. Well at least the Democrats had the guts to go out on a limb and bring in a regime that everyone knew was going to fail. But the point of the ACA was to fail, so that the US could enjoy the same wonderful system as North Korea or Cuba. The second option is that the Republican Party and its leadership is so incompetent as to be a bad joke. They couldn't hit the toilet bowl if they had diarrhea...even with a bombsight. If that's the case, which I very much doubt it is, then it's time to replace the Republican Party.
