The Golems of Government

With the stroke of a pen, Barack Hussein Obama added over a trillion dollars to our deficit and potentially trillions more to our national debt. Now, because some rascals in the US Senate might not go along with his takeover of the American Health System, he is pulling out all the stops to reclaim his “precious”. Obama has no concern over whether or not bankrupting every single taxpayer will have any long term effects over our country. He isn’t bothered by the several million jobs his policies have cost our citizens or the probably several million more this takeover will cause. He wants his power. Or in other words, “His Precious.”

Senator Bunning has had the bad taste to block an unpaid unemployment compensation bill. This has been all over the news for the past few days. To continue with the LOR analogy, the orcs of the Mass Media are out for blood. How dare a politician, much less a US Senator use the expletive, “fiscal responsibility”? Based on the media’s reaction, that constitutes a capital offence. While all of this is going on, Obama authorizes an unpaid extension of payments for the unemployed. What no one has mentioned is that simply by using a few simple money management techniques, those payments would be adequately funded and not add to the ever-increasing deficit. Has the government never heard of placing the unused funds of all their agencies into an interest-earning account? Contrary to common opinion this isn’t illegal or even unethical. No, the actions of both Obama and the Democrats indicate that they are fully intent on pursuing their own agenda and certainly pleased to see the collapse of the US economy. They want their “precious” Out here in Nevada, Governor Jim Gibbons states that Nevada “doesn’t have a budget problem; it has a “spending” problem”. Sorry, Governor “Thumbs” (for his texting speed) Gibbons is wrong. We do have a budget problem and it has its own roots deeply buried into the same sewer that feeds the weeds in Washington DC, corruption. This includes how funds are collected, how they are allocated and how they are spent. Just try to get a bill passed that stops a Congressman or a Senator from tacking onto any bill an amendment, even if it has no relation to the issue the bill addresses, which funnels cash to a friend or campaign contributor. In politics that is called “earmarking”. In the real world we call it corruption. Those few legislators who have tried to put some integrity into the legislative process have found the support that they previously enjoyed from their own parties somewhat lacking when the time came for reelection. You see, the golems in politics do not want things to change, no matter how often they campaign on that very promise. They are quite comfortable with being the pinnacle of the food chain and the voters typically go right along with the process of feeding that belief. Just like Washington, Nevada is doing nothing more than spin its wheels financially because no one in power wants to make the tough choices that a realistic budget requires. Those choices would upset the usual political power bases such as the unions, big business and the bureaucracy. For example, what would the unions say if the typical practice of prevailing wage were changed to a realistic market competition where a company was allowed to compete not only for contracts but for workers? What would big business say if they only got the same deductions and perks that every other business received? Would a level playing field be unfair? In Nevada that would mean Gaming and Mining would have to increase their payments to the general fund, or that the State would have to lower everyone else’s taxes. How about changing how the bureaucracy does business? Can you imagine the uproar if they had to live under the same inconveniences we had to when dealing with them? What about using existing technology to allow citizens to deal with the various agencies 24/7 online? Of course, that would eliminate long lines which are every bureaucrat’s bread and butter. How would the politically correct world react if they could no longer spend our tax dollars on issues that have nothing to do with reality? What if schools were no longer allowed to staff the diversity offices and programs that promote racism? What if English were adopted as the official language of the US and the budget was no longer used to print foreign languages? What would be the results? On one hand, political parties would lose campaign donations by the millions and many of those in both the states and Washington would have to do without their jet set lifestyle. On the other hand multiple millions would be available to pay for those services currently withheld from legal citizens because the government is catering to illegals. If any of you are cynical about my assertions, I’ve seen it and lived it. You would not believe how many goodies are thrown at legislators, even at my pitiful level. The temptation AND the pressure to slide into corruption is immense. Not only do they want you to go along with their cynical interpretation of the constitution, but they distrust you if you are “too honest”. If you, as I did, refuse to play along then most of those you thought were friends, including the media types, are suddenly your blood enemies. Just like Obama, they want their “precious”, their power. The money is secondary. So, how do we take our country back? First we treat every incumbent as if guilty before proven innocent. Sadly, some good will go with the bad, but with an infection level at over 90%, that is just about the only thing we can do, unless those rare honest politicians are willing to take the dangerous step of proving their honesty to the voter. If they do not have the courage to do so, then the voters need to toss every single one of them into the fire.
