The Green-Red Information Operations Against Israel Must Stop

At the end of July, the United Kingdom’s Labor government again went after Israel after a barrage of propaganda in the media. As reported by National Public Radio (NPR): “The United Kingdom will recognize a Palestinian state by September unless Israel commits to peace in the Gaza Strip, stopping the annexation of the West Bank and other measures, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said Tuesday.

The announcement came as international alarm has grown over (alleged) starvation and deaths in the Gaza Strip…. A United Nations-backed food security group on Tuesday warned that the "worst case scenario of famine” is unfolding….. (Starmer) said. ‘So…. I can confirm the U.K. will recognize the state of Palestine by the United Nations General Assembly in September unless the Israeli government takes substantive steps to end the appalling situation in Gaza, agree to a ceasefire and commit to a long-term, sustainable peace… ’”. Other liberal led nations, like Canada, are following suit. This green-red alliance of information operations against Israel must stop.

First, the Green-Red alliance is the paradoxical cooperation between Islamists (Green) and the radical left (Red). Paradoxical, because Islamism is counter to much of progressivism, particularly with regards to women’s rights, homosexual rights, etc. The Green-Red alliance agrees solely in their hatred of Israel and the West in general, and anti-capitalist worldview. After the 1967 “Six-day war” victory of Israel over Arab neighbors, the Soviet Union helped push the narrative of Israel (which was democratic and capitalist) being part of the colonial “oppressor” class. The 1967 Palestinian terror group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) was founded that year with the help of Soviet proxies. (U.S. State Department--Archived, April 28, 2006)

This communist Palestinian “resistance” combined with Muslim Brotherhood related Islamist groups and Western radical progressives with Israel being cast as an evil colonial oppressor.

Second, “Information Operations” is defined as the integrated employment, during military operations, of information-related capabilities in concert with other lines of operation to influence, disrupt, corrupt, or usurp the decision-making of adversaries and potential adversaries. With respect to Hamas, information operations (IO) involves controlling the flow of information to influencers, primarily media, around the region and the world to develop and push a false narrative harmful to Israel. This can be seen in the quick blame against Israel for the Islamic Jihad missile which fell on top of the Gaza Baptist Hospital early in the war. By the time Israel showed solid evidence the missile came from Islamic Jihad the IO damage was done.

Note: Hamas atrocities included raping, torturing, and murdering around 1,200 Israelis and involved beheading and burning women and babies. After these heinous attacks, Hamas terrorists went back to Gaza to hide amongst Gazan civilians under and around hospitals taking hundreds of Jewish hostages. Hamas fighters videotaped tortures, murders, rapes and hostage taking. It was clearly intended to create the likelihood of civilian Gazan casualties in the response to be used for IO against Israel.

On November 3, 2023 the leader of Hezbollah, Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, spoke about the war in Gaza and his ally Hamas. Nasrallah’s speech exposed the Green-Red IO campaign. In it, Nasrallah praised the October 7 massacre and alleged the civilian rapes, torture, and murder was committed by IDF forces retaking the civilian neighborhoods. After that gaslighting, Nasrallah went on to praise the propaganda war (IO) being waged by the Left and Islamists in the West against Israel. Nasrallah saluted “all those who took to the streets, in support and in solidarity” around the world. 

Nasrallah then gave his IO orders: “It is the duty of (Hamas supporters) to establish and reiterate these facts (lies) in the public-opinion-warfare….. This is the least we can do in this battle.…. Those who remain silent must reconsider their faith”. Nasrallah demanded assistance fighting what he called “public-opinion-warfare”. This can be seen now with the continuous allegations of Israel allegedly committing “genocide” against the Gazans. That claim is preposterous: If the Israelis wanted to commit genocide against the Palestinians, they have the capability to do so immediately. Yet in almost two years of fighting only .01% of the Palestinian Population has died, even using the uncredible Hamas numbers, and much of the dead were Hamas fighters.

The Green-Red IO campaign has continued unabated since the October 7 massacre. Hamas has shown videos of starving Jewish Hostages forced to dig their own graves while in horrendous conditions underground. These videos do not get near the traction as false stories, like the false worldwide news story about an alleged starving Palestinian boy. The picture of this boy being held by his mother was republished in every major news outlet, including the New York Times, and helped push the ridiculous charge of genocide against Israel. When the boy’s muscular dystrophy was discovered and helped better explain his appearance, the media dug in defending previous coverage. According the NPR, alleged malnutrition acerbated the condition, despite the well-fed appearance of the boy’s parents. (NPR, Aug. 7, 2025)

NPR demonized those who exposed the false story.

Despite all the anti-Israel Green-Red IO, we know Hamas can end the war and any suffering now by releasing the remaining hostages. Absent that solution Hamas won’t take, Israel must defeat Hamas at the earliest possible time and we must end the Green-Red IO and support that defeat.
