The New York Times Twists Into A Pretzel Trying To Justify Endorsement Of Harris

On September 30, America’s newspaper of record, the New York Times (NYT), endorsed Kamala Harris as “The Only Patriotic Choice” for President. Granted the NYT has endorsed every Democratic Presidential candidate over almost seven decades, so this wasn’t necessarily a surprise. What is amazing is the paper’s alleged justification for this endorsement.

The unabashed gaslighting of the American people this election cycle has reached new heights. Almost the entire endorsement editorial is a regurgitation of the same old attacks on Trump mainstream media has continued to repeat for years hoping in vain for a knockout. About the only positive reason given to vote for Harris is for her supposed “Care, Competence and an unwavering commitment to the Constitution.” (Source) 

If the NYTs is going to rely on this kind of mendacity for its Harris endorsement, it’s time to call out the grey lady for twisting into a pretzel of inconsistency.

First, it is telling the endorsement did not provide one example to back up the claim about Harris’s alleged competence. It just doesn’t exist. As Vice President, Harris was shown to be utterly incompetent in her given role of Border Czar. As Senator, Harris did almost nothing beyond pandering to the far left, earning the distinction of being named the second most liberal Senator of the 21^st century. (Source) 

The Harris record as California AG has come under withering attack in the past weeks and Californians recently gave Harris an approval rating of only 35% and disapproval rating at 45%. (Source)

As Vice President, Harris was ranked at the bottom of all former VPs in approval, before she was “promoted” to Democratic nominee without winning a primary. Competence of Harris appears to some kind of imaginary wish to the New York Times.

In terms of Kamala’s alleged “unwavering commitment to the Constitution”, the New York Post best sums up the prevailing disagreement with the New York Times: “Since when has Harris ever stood up for the Constitution? The Supreme Court smacked her down for violating the First Amendment rights of charities and public advocacy groups. She spent her first presidential campaign ‘running for queen,’ as Times columnist David French said at the time, given her penchant for just declaring that presidents could do whatever they wanted by executive order — a pattern this administration has continued.” (Source) 

Running for President last cycle, Harris advocated violation of the Second Amendment by proposing mandatory gun buy backs. She has advocated decriminalizing the southern border, despite the Constitutional duty to enforce immigration law.

According to famed law professor Jonathan Turley, the Harris administration would be a “nightmare for free speech” due to her views and past positions, as well as those of her running mate Tim Walz, on the First Amendment. (Source) 

Harris has advocated marginalization of the Judicial branch of government by court packing schemes. Harris has openly advocated for the President abusing power including revoking private patents and price fixing.

Probably the greatest danger Harris poses to the Constitution is with the right to the free exercise of religion. According to First Liberty: “Harris introduced a bill to weaken the Religious Freedom Restoration Act. Opposed religious exemptions from the contraception mandate. Co-sponsored the ‘Equality Act’ which some view as the most serious threat to religious freedom ever considered by Congress. Opposed free speech for religious wedding vendors and business owners. Opposed a landmark Supreme Court ruling that held Americans do not lose their religious freedom when they open a business.” (Source) 

As AG, Harris promised she would spend taxpayer money for sex changes for convicted criminal prisoners, allowing biological male criminals into female prisons.

In terms of Patriotism, the New York Times certainly did not research which candidate our most Patriotic Americans support. By the most recent Pew Research polls, Veterans support Trump almost two to one over Harris. (Source) In proclaiming Harris is “the only Patriotic Choice”, the NYTs commits arguably one of the most unpatriotic acts by maligning veterans. Either the NYTs is making the shocking claim veterans are unpatriotic, or implying veterans just aren’t sophisticated enough to understand true Patriotism. Considering veterans swore to support and defend the Constitution and have done so, the New York Times is showing the greatest lack of humility imaginable in using “Patriotism” as solely connected to Harris. Ironically, the New York Times wrote a series of articles in 2022 on the alleged dangers of “extremism” among veterans and law enforcement. (Source) The military investigated and determined this just wasn’t true (Source) but NYTs never issued an apology for slandering these most Patriotic Americans.

It’s time the New York Times to understand their credibility has been demolished in twisting into a pretzel in cheerleading for Democratic candidates like Harris. Polls indicate support for Harris is now cratering “after” the New York Times and other mainstream sources have given patently absurd endorsements. Trust has been lost and must be regained by a dedication to truth. The full, God-given truth Americans have the right to expect from our nation’s media.
