The Only Election in America’s History When a Vote Can Become an Act of Repentance

In 2012 the Christian Church, both Catholic and Protestant, failed to save the country from the onslaught of damaging liberal policies under the second term of Obama and Biden. Obama easily won 332 electoral votes, while Mitt Romney garnered only 206 electoral votes. In 2012 estimates were that 60 percent of American voters were Christian.

Deeply secularized society hardly pays much attention to biblical passages

While it is true that the Christian church has been sinking into a nationwide apostasy, there should have been millions of votes to push the victory over to Mitt Romney-- there were not. This time the tables have turned. There is a strong conservative up for re-election with a good record and a profession of faith in the name of Jesus Christ. Between 2008 and 2012 the most quoted Biblical verse of scripture among Christian writers was without doubt, 2 Chronicles 7:14. It was a call to the church, and many used it as a call to the nation as well. What is this familiar verse about?

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Deeply secularized society hardly pays much attention to such biblical passages. They think it is a bit of poetry, sage advice, or some antiquated message given to hearers of a far distant time. But all of God’s messages were executed from a source called the “eternal” and that means, they transcend time. They are calls not from the past, the present or the future – they have an everlasting frame of reference and their meaning will never change.

God is calling his “people” and little distinction is made between church and nation. He calls for humility, repentance from “wickedness” and some genuine seeking for a renewed relationship between himself and those he addresses. But is America wicked? Could this seemingly archaic expression possibly describe America in the present day? Here is the clincher – this call to repentance is timelier for the U.S. or any other nation today, than it has ever been. Examples. What does Joe bring to the nation, and what is he proposing for the citizens of this most amazing of all nations the world has ever known?

The list is too long for any one article, but we may start with a career long advocacy for abortion. Adding to that Joe has openly proclaimed that Sen. Robert Byrd, once a member of the KKK, was once his highly respected mentor. Just putting those two undisputed facts together gives us a cringe worthy result, but in no way is it an encouragement to rush out and vote for Joe. Abortion ends a precious life, and as Kanye West recently noted about 1000 of those lives are black and are wasted daily to the murderous notion that a “women’s rights” include the right to murder black children each and every single day. West said, that Planned Parenthood and abortion was a weapon of eugenics, and further claimed that, “Abortion has killed more black lives in 2020 than the total US COVID death count.” Wicked? Grossly so.

Going to the polls and picking Donald Trump for president in 2020 is indeed a small, but spectacularly important part of a nationwide repentance from the wickedness. Come down off your high horse, America, you will not escape the deep and thorough scrutinization of the living God for much longer. The key to the following warning for this nation is not “when” but it is the word “suddenly.” “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.”
