Reinstatement of the Cold War

The Russian Iran Alliance

Recently, three interconnected events have occurred.  One is Russian President Vladimir Putin’s reinstatement of the “cold war” against America while openly siding with Iranian dictator Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. In actuality this alliance has lasted for years with Putin only recently indicating dissatisfaction with America as the reason for the alliance.

Another event reported last week involves Iranian ships staging mock attacks against US Naval ships.  Next, is the news coverage given to Israel’s outspoken opposition to Iran’s currently unchecked nuclear development program.  How are these incidents connected? By a Russian-Iranian alliance to become politically and militarily stronger than America and Israel.        To understand these events better, we must scrutinize the real reason why the Iranians tried fooling US sailors into thinking they would be attacked.  The Iranians’ motive for using that trick was to measure how strong or weak the Americans’ willingness to fight was.  The Iranians need to know if they would-be opposed by the US Navy if they, the Iranians, were caught smuggling nuclear weapons components.  If smuggling is the case, nuclear components very likely are involved since Iran is stubbornly pursuing uranium enrichment and has openly proclaimed its willingness to use nuclear power (supposedly for civilian uses).  Another reason why Iran must be smuggling nuclear-related technology is the fact of having received nuclear weapons technology numerous times from Russia throughout the years.  Many past articles discoverable through the Yahoo search engine have discussed America's attempt to "stop" Russia's aid to Iran on Iran's development of nuclear energy.  One such article comes from the Jerusalem Issue Brief dated 28 April 2003.  In a section entitled, "Russia and Iran's Nuclear Program", Uzi Arad reported that the mid-1990s saw "...a continuous stream of leakage of Russian technology, technicians, material, contracts, and activities to Iran...in the two critical domains of missile capability and nuclear development."  Arad also emphasized that Russia knowingly aided Iran’s military application of nuclear power.  This refutes Russia's past claims that they were not violating international laws in their cooperation with Iran.   If Russia is helping Iran in it’s nuclear and missile programs, then Iran's threat becomes more immediate for Israel and not just for America.  That is because these missiles (possibly topped with radioactive materials) are within closer range to Israel should Ahmadinejad attack them with radioactive--or nuclear--elements.        The plausibility of Iranian missiles containing radioactive elements increases when one considers Bruce Pannier's article, “Kyrgyzstan: Authorities Seize Radioactive Material Bound For Iran". In it Pannier reports how radioactive materials were found on a Russian train that was scheduled to arrive in Iran.  This was an illegal covert export on Russia's part.  Kyrgyzstan authorities discovered it after the train passed three checkpoints undetected.  While the mastermind(s) behind the transport still have yet to be discovered, the most likely suspects are Putin and those in Moscow who have always supported illegal sales to Iran.        In addition to radioactive shipments and nuclear weapons, Uzi Arad also wrote something else in the above-mentioned Jerusalem Issue Brief.  Referring to the secret nuclear deals between Russia and Iran, Arad mentioned, “Some of the issues negotiated secretly involved exactly how to deceive the world as to the true purposes of the program… .”  Add to this, Russia's program for hiding WMDs from the West that existed since its KGB days and you get a Russia for whom lying about WMDs is normal practice.  Iran and Russia work on these WMDs to gain leverage against America and Israel.         What emerges is the following picture: Russia and Iran team up to make nuclear weapons in violation of international laws while posing a danger to America and Israel.  Both Putin and Ahmadinejad plan how they will deceive the world into thinking their mutual countries’ cooperation on nuclear power is legal (i.e. for civilian purposes and consistent with nonproliferation laws).  This Iranian-Russian alliance could indeed include a secret agreement that both dictators will help each other take care of their enemies: America and Israel.  This becomes more true considering Ahmadinejad’s hatred of Israelis and Russia’s intent “…to offset current U.S. unilateralism and strengthen its position as the leading global player”, as author Victor Mizin writes in his internet article, “The Russia-Iran Nuclear Connection and U.S. Policy Options” .  Considering Ahmadinejad’s hatred for Jews and his use of Hizbollah terrorists to attack Israel multiple times, Israel is very right for opposing Iran’s drive toward missile and nuclear power development.  Opposing Iran is necessary for Israel’s protection.  Because he hates Israel and knows Israel is America’s ally, Ahmadinejad knows Iranians might have to fight American military men if war starts with Israel.  This explains why Iran was gauging Americans’ willingness to fight during the mock attacks at sea.                The solution to all of this is simple.  The US must take a more proactive role supporting Israel against Iran’s nuclear agenda.  Americans must gather other free nations to diplomatically (and if necessary militarily) weaken Iran and Russia through vigorous sanctions and espionage.  Also, the use of the military’s special operations teams can be used to sabotage Iranian nuclear facilities rather than commit prematurely to a full-scale war.   Furthermore, American sailors and soldiers must blow Iranian ships (and other enemies) out of the water when the latter act like they will destroy American ships.  This will show the Iranian dictatorship that we are not easy marks.  We must also seal ocean channels through which Iran procures nuclear technology shipments.  The US sailors must fight back in their own self-defense without regard to politics or the media’s smearing of them.  Politics and political correctness must never hamper our fighting spirit.  Schools must teach grade-schoolers, adult civilians and soldiers the virtues of warrior cultures that have existed both in America since the American Revolution and in ancient Greece.  America must boldly assert its greatness and military prowess and, metaphorically spit in the faces of those fanatics and terrorist supporters who hate Americans.  America must secure it’s modern “Manifest Destiny” to become the Free World’s leader in destroying dictatorships and eradicating terrorists.
