The United States is not Liberal

Yes, I know, the title of this column is making a bold statement that, at its face, appears to be a bold lie or a foolish bit of naivety. It is neither and I can prove it.

First, look at the polling results with regard to Obama’s plan to convert the American Healthcare System into a socialist's dream. Less than 30% of the American people polled think this is a good thing. Bear in mind also that those doing the polling want the so-called “reform” to happen and tried to poll those demographics they thought most sympathetic to the cause. Now, if the best they can do with that is a pitiful 30% and falling, what does that say about average Joe American? Second, consider Obama’s own polling numbers. Many of the Democrat Party leaders had said on more than one occasion that George Bush Junior was our most unpopular President upon leaving office. To be fair, Bush did take office without winning the popular vote on at least one election, but it is a Democrat who holds the record in basement level poll numbers. That erstwhile POTUS happens to be none other than Jimmy Carter, the southern plantation owner and mouther of racist tripe. Of course, because Jimmy is a Democrat and a liberal Democrat at that, the mainstream media give his racism a pass, while at the same time trying to find a way to equate a black man protesting Obama with racism. Obama’s numbers are falling to near Carter levels precisely because he is proving to be even more of an incompetent administrator than was Jimmy Carter. Typically the US President is surrounded with advisors who are expert in every discipline necessary to run this country the way it should be. Not so with Obama. The first criteria for a cabinet post in his administration appears to be whether or not you were a sixties radical. After that it doesn’t seem to matter if you can utter a complete sentence or not. The American people put this idiot into office because they were fed up with politics as usual, and at that time change for changes sake seemed to be enough. McCain had Sarah Palin, but when Mrs. Palin began to outshine her running mate the GOP did the worst thing possible and slapped a muzzle on her. All that left the voters with was John McCain, more of the same and about as exciting as wallpaper paste. Against an Obama who seemed young, energetic and charismatic, old school McCain didn’t stand a chance. The problem is, charisma alone cannot balance a checkbook. Obama seems to be unable to do so, even with the entire Washington bureaucracy helping.

Third, Americans are not victims. The liberal needs victims to justify their existence. If there are none to be found they will manufacture some. The Democrat Party, stuffed full of extremist elites such as Charlie Rangle, Henry Waxman, Nancy Pelosi and so on, has worked tirelessly to create the impression that every American citizen is being victimized by someone somewhere. And, in a certain sense they are correct. What they are not saying is that the victimizer is the liberal wing of the American system. The American public is beginning to wake up about this. The polling numbers are a clear indicator of that very fact as well as the fear being expressed in liberal forums, the outlandish expenses put forth in paying for elaborate early campaigns by prominent Democrats, and the anti civil rights bills being tossed about by Democrats in Congress all show that the left knows that they have woken a sleeping giant. This happened before in recent history when Newt Gingritch was Speaker of the House. The American people tossed nearly every liberal leader out of Washington and for some odd reason the cost of running the country dropped and the prosperity index rose while the jobless rates plummeted; most of these events underreported by the media at large. Unfortunately, while Americans are a self-reliant animal, we are also fairly dense when it comes to learning from history. We allowed the conservatives in government to become as corrupt as the liberals we kicked out. This led to a distressingly large number of usually observant individuals voting for change for changes sake.

Liberal elite are not evolved and are far more bigoted, reactionary, intolerant and downright hidebound

Liberals love to consider themselves far more intelligent, even more evolved than conservatives. They use the term “progressive” as an identifier as if to say that any who disagree with their stance is not interested in progress. I have found, however, that most liberals, especially those of the liberal elite, are not evolved and are far more bigoted, reactionary, intolerant and downright hidebound in comparison with those of us in the conservative ranks. They claim to represent the majority opinion in the US, but again, the opposite is true. Why do you think ACORN put so much effort in registering illegals and even people who did not exist as voters in the last election? Without cheating they cannot and will not have the numbers they purport to have. Why is this? The reason is so simple perhaps even a liberal can understand it. The American people do not want some faceless bureaucrat telling them how and where to live. They do not want the majority of their paycheck going toward the support of a lazy slob. They want to be able to choose the school their kid goes to and choose their own doctor. They want to see an end to phonied-up lawsuits and see people who make stupid mistakes suffer the consequences for their own idiocy. They are quite willing to help those in distress and in need, but it has to be their decision. Americans are tired of the idea of “collective guilt”. An individual is responsible for their own actions and decisions. This “guilt by association” nonsense is just that, nonsense. Americans built their country by being more stubborn and tougher than the other guy. They resent those who are trying to turn them into merely another clone of the French. They want the UN out of their backyard and their bedroom. One is for barbeques and the other is none of your business.
