The Urgency of Resurrecting Honest Elections

As Passover and Easter have just come and gone, many people of faith would realize that both holidays have much to do with a passage from slavery into freedom. The Passover celebration is focused upon an escape from the death that smote the first-born Egyptians, but also escape from the historical bondage of slavery in Egypt. The celebration of Easter is focused upon the Resurrection of Jesus which is a passage from death to life and for Christians a passage from the bondage of sin into the light of truth that can set the faithful free. It is upon this foundation of the Judeo-Christian heritage that the United States of America came into existence.
Many Americans who love freedom may have also recognized that another appropriate day of remembrance just passed on April 19, which also represents a passage from a form of slavery into freedom. On April 19, 1775, brave boys and men took up arms against their particular form of enslavement manifested through the British Empire. The shot heard ‘round the world set off a movement towards the most substantial form of freedom the world had yet to witness in such a turbulent time. The foundation was rooted in the Judeo-Christian heritage, and established upon self-evident truths outlined in the Declaration of Independence. Nearly 250 years later, after severe trials and tribulation, the foundation and cornerstone of our nation is under attack, as are the very roots of our heritage and those self-evident truths as well. In such a turbulent time, possibly surpassing all other turbulent phases of history, the nation is facing an existential crisis of major proportions. Yet, it seems as if this generation of Americans is asleep, or slowly emerging from a self-indulgent slumber and half-heartedly acknowledging that there is something fundamentally wrong with America. Denial, or refusal to come to grips with the truth is a human tendency – and with such a fateful mindset, denial of the truth leads to the avoidance of self-evident truths, which is essentially living in a realm of lies, or a world of pretend. Today, the denial of self-evident truths is one objective of the enemies of freedom. Today in America, people are plagued more by misinformation and disinformation than any physical disease. And, one of the central dangers to the foundation of freedom that so many brave and brilliant patriots have died to preserve, is the right to elect our leaders rather than having some form of imposed authoritarian form of government. Today in America, we the people no longer realize the self-evident truth that our rights are derived from God and not an authoritarian type of autocratic government. So it is fair to say that today in America, we the people’s government is no longer under the care and authority of the people. Power has been centralized and controlled by leaders who no longer take into account the welfare of the people, they care mainly for their own benefit – whether power, prestige, or wealth for their personal or political pursuits.

Self-denial of the irregularities and manipulation of elections

Today, the denial of self-evident truths includes the denial that our elections have become the prey of authoritarian and autocratic leaders who pursue mainly power, prestige, or wealth for their personal or political ambitions. How could that happen in America – the Land of the Free? The simple answer to that realistic, but naive question, is that it happened slowly and carefully over time while the rest of the hard-working Americans were trying to enjoy the fruits of freedom our founding generation carved out for us. America has had numerous enemies throughout our history. Today, the nation faces enemies from within and well as foreign adversaries. Yet, a basic illusion that exists within the nation is that our elections are fair and honest. It is very self-evident that they are not transparent. In actuality, the people are awakening from a self-induced slumber of self-denial. Whether such an awakening is too little too late remains to be seen. Self-denial of the irregularities and manipulation of elections is expressed in many forms. Some people look at our elections and have already concluded that it is an ‘impossible situation’ and have ‘opted out’ of the system as if to remove some sense of personal responsibility for such a systemic problem. Other people realize the problem of the deception and dishonesty associated with elections and cannot be bothered because God would not have them become involved with such gutter behavior. Other citizens who understand the problem are clueless about a solution or feel helpless to implement potential solutions. Still other concerned citizens, who realize there is something fundamentally wrong with America, attempt to work on activities that are needed to bring about positive solutions to various problems. To get involved and do something may help. For the ‘activists’ who put their time and energy into worthy causes, it is doing something to help the particular cause they have decided to commit their time and energy to. These are very noble, even altruistic, people. However, the actions are like a fireman putting out several fires set by arsonists. Until the arsonist is discovered, captured, and held accountable for setting the various fires, the deliberate arson will continue. Our firemen are respected and noble individuals and are essential to help in controlling or putting out fires. The parents fighting for their children being indoctrinated in the schools are like the firemen. Yet, there are other evil elements in our society who do not appreciate such ‘firemen’ putting out such ‘fires.’

Our elections have become the prey of authoritarian and autocratic leaders or wanna-be leaders

There are numerous fires in America today. And the arsonists have become sworn enemies of the ‘firemen.’ The enemies of the firemen are the enemies of freedom. The enemies of freedom are the arsonists. The arsonists are the ones who are striking seriously, consistently at the roots of the Judeo-Christian heritage, and they are the ones who seek to reverse the self-evident truths proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence. The arsonists are the ones who are sparking or fanning the flames of the fires all across the nation. Our elections are providing the arsonists a platform of power to perpetuate their pursuit of power, prestige, or wealth for their personal or political gains. It is self-evident that our elections have become the prey of authoritarian and autocratic leaders or wanna-be leaders. In several states the elections are no longer fair, honest, or transparent. It is not just the problem of California or Pennsylvania. The arsonists will continue to set fires in all the places they can get away with it. Citizens can spend time by continuing to fight all the fires, or Americans can awaken to the realities of resurrecting the value and purpose of our elections. In this case, such a resurrection is the responsibility of all freedom-loving citizens. We have now come full-circle and we face an enemy of freedom within our borders and within the highest realms of our government. It is time to face the truth for the truth will set us free if we still hold on to it and hold it in esteem.
