The Velvet Gulag

In my last several AFP/CFP articles, I have tried to draw attention to the reality that the American government, and by the same token, the Canadian government, are thoroughly and deeply infested by corrupt criminals who are working to destroy our respective nations.

There is nothing wrong about our forms of government; the problem is the individual criminals trying to wreck the sovereignty of our nations.

For at least the last 50 years, the evil criminals within our governments have crafted a very comfortable velvet gulag for the majority of the citizens to exist in. This success will continue for the majority of the population until it reaches the point where it is no longer comfortable.

In 2024, everyone one that cares to can comfortably sit round watching their favorite sport or other entertainment on television in an unlimited fashion with nearly unlimited choices. People can line up in their cars and wait to pick up their five or six dollar coffee or even have that coffee delivered to their home. They can even order up a $20 fast food meal and have that delivered. From this perspective, life is, oh, so good, and that describes the velvet gulag.

However, a minority of the population are patriots in both America and Canada, and they are well aware that we are living in that velvet gulag as our rights and freedoms are slowly being syphoned away by the criminal elements of our respective governments. These elements are working contrary to our foundational documents and are trying to hand over our national sovereignty to an international cabal of elites, who are trying to gain total control over all world governments.

"It does not take a majority to prevail... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." ~ Samuel Adams

Meanwhile, the oblivious majority are comfortable in their velvet gulag while too many of their January 6th, 2021, citizen brothers and sisters languish as political prisoners in more traditional gulags. America has the most egregious example of government persecuting one of its political rivals in the unending lawfare against presidential candidate Donald Trump. If the government can so blatantly use government agencies against the political threat of Donald Trump, what chance does the average citizen have who might choose to oppose the sitting regime. Allow me to paraphrase Pastor Martin Niemöller when he spoke about what happened in Germany during WWII.

First they came for the January 6th demonstrators, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a January 6th demonstrator.

Then they came for Donald Trump, and I did not speak out—
Because Trump was not my problem.

Then they came for the activist patriots, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not an activist patriot.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

That is how the velvet gulag will morph into a gulag of a different nature, and then it will be game over and too late to fix what’s broken. America, Canada, and the free world will die by suicide as a result of the individual criminals in our governments who betrayed the Constitution and the citizens who mistakenly put them in their positions of power and then failed to hold them accountable.

“This is the way the world will end.

This is the way the world will end.

This is the way the world will end.

Not with a bang, but a whimper.” ~ T.S. Eliot
