When your grandparents came as immigrants their goal was to start a new life, assimilate into American culture and reap the benefits of a free society. Today's immigrants are more interested reaping the benefits of being the welfare society created by others and assimilating not so much. Think I am wrong?
The United States Customs and Immigration Service (USCIS) issued a report showing 60% of the people amnestied in 1986 have never filed to become Naturalized, content with just having legal status. Where's the love of country?
If amnesty is given to the 11 million plus illegal aliens there is no reason to expect they will want citizenship in greater percentages if it means having to learn English and paying a fee to take the test.
Think that's bad, The Migration Policy Institute, not exactly a conservative think tank, reports 64% of Legal Mexican Immigrants, the largest legal immigrant group in the country, have not become Naturalized Citizens. Of those who have only 6% said it was for love of country while 19% said it was for the benefits. Perhaps that is why over 50% of all legal Mexican legal immigrants are still receiving welfare 20 years after arriving.
The next large groups following Hispanic immigrants are Chinese and Indians. Of all immigrant groups combined 44% have not become Naturalized citizens. One important point to keep in mind, the large majority of all immigrants coming to the country are uneducated, unskilled and speak little or no English.
If this is allowed to continue what happens to the country? Well, forget about assimilation and a single language. Hello balkanizing communities and separate cultures.
I have no doubt the people who came up with the idea of mass immigration back in the liberal 1960s couldn't be happier to see America devolve into third world status washing away our American culture in the process.
