This January an exhibition celebrating the lives of musicians will be hosted alongside the largest annual winter music festival of its kind, in Scotland.

Celtic Connections will feature performances by legends like Bobby Womack and Del Amitri at 20 locations across Glasgow. Visitors will also be able to indulge in an exhibition by Argyll artist Andrew Sinclair who revels in capturing performing musicians in oils on canvas. It will take place at Merchant Gate Gallery in Saltmarket. “We are delighted to be hosting this exhibition from one of Scotland's most up and coming figurative painters,” says Craig Burniston, owner of Merchant Gate Gallery. “The atmosphere in Andrew's work captures perfectly the spirit of Celtic Connections." Andrew adds: “I am passionate about music and enjoy painting musicians, as the concentration and atmosphere surrounding them translates into paintings so well. I expect that Celtic Connections will provide me with much inspiration for future works, too.” The festival and the exhibition run between January 16 and February 2, 2014.
