Free speech and freedom of expression are in jeopardy wherever you look, even in America...especially in America

Thought police have to fought at every turn

If Americans (or Brits or Canadians or anyone else living in the West) lose the ability to speak their minds and express their opinions they will lose everything because freedom cannot possibly survive if they do so.

Instead of living in free countries they will find themselves living in totalitarian ones and their freedom will be a thing of the past. That is precisely what’s happening everywhere in the West, even in the United States, the bastion of free speech and freedom of expression. The thought police are everywhere and free speech and freedom of expression are in jeopardy wherever you look, even in America...especially in America. They represent our governments, our schools and universities are full of them, they come from all sides of the political spectrum, especially the left, they stifle dissent wherever they find it and they are breeding nothing but intolerance, conformity, hate and robotic, totalitarian “thinking”. Deference to the thought police is ruining the United States. Its ruining every other country in the West, too. Actually, its doing more than ruining them, it's destroying them. People everywhere are being muzzled, shut up, denigrated, vilified, threatened and attacked for daring to express views that are contrary to perceived wisdom, contrary to whatever the current, permissible orthodoxy is. People everywhere are being muzzled, shut up, denigrated, vilified, threatened and attacked for merely questioning perceived wisdom or the orthodoxy of the day, never mind expressing views that are contrary to them. As for criticism, forget about it, no matter how well informed, accurate or knowledgeable it is. Try questioning climate change or gay marriage or Islam or any number of other things for example and see what happens...try criticizing climate change or gay marriage or Radical Islam or any number of other things for example and see what happens...the thought police will come down on your head like a ton of bricks and try to muzzle you and shut you up...they will denigrate you, vilify you, threaten you, attack you and try to ruin your life in all manner of ways. You will be publicly labelled and shamed and accused of being a “denier” or “homophobic” or “Islamophobic” or “racist” or a “misogynist” or a purveyor of “hate speech”or whatever...you may even lose your job or your home or your financial independence...hell, you may even be jailed, or killed. None of that is any exaggeration at all. People are being turned into robots and forced conformity is the order of the day...people are losing their ability to think critically and express themselves...people are succumbing to fear and intimidation...if that keeps up freedom will be lost, plain and simple... if we keep on deferring to the thought police and letting them get away with forcing everyone to think and act the same way we are sounding the death knell of the free world, plain and simple. Synonyms for Easter include rebirth and resurrection...synonyms for Passover include freedom and survival. In this holiday season free speech, freedom of expression and freedom itself have to be reborn and resurrected, everywhere in the West. If they aren’t reborn and resurrected they won’t survive and neither will the West. That means that the thought police have to be fought at every turn, no matter the personal price. That means that anyone who tries to silence or punish dissent or dissenters in any way, shape or form should not be allowed to get away with it, no matter what their justification is, even if it is religious. Nothing else will do. Fight the thought police and keep on fighting them, that’s the only answer to what they are trying to do. And no, I’m not a “denier” or “homophobic” or “Islamophobic” or “racist” or a “misogynist” or a purveyor of “hate speech” or anything else. I’m a free citizen of a free country, for now, and I want to stay that way. Happy Easter. Happy Passover. Yours sincerely, Jerry Philipson Comox, British Columbia, Canada
