Three Would-Be Dictators Have Blown It

Canada and the US are not used to dictators, even would-be ones, but the hitherto free countries through a fluke of political history allowed Trudeau and Biden to assume unprecedented powers. By promoting hysteria about climate and COVID both politicians have declared war upon ordinary people. While Putin has invaded an essentially benign neighbor that suffered the Holodomor the last time Moscow went crazy. All three politicians have gone renegade, which being against the basic traditions of individual freedom and limited government, could be in each case or collectively one of the greatest blunders in a hundred years. It was that long ago when Eastern Europe embraced communism and the West began to be beguiled by progressivism. Of interest, is that the public after being mesmerized by fear seems to be regaining its commonsense. Canada’s “Freedom Convoy” was practical in getting the point across at the same time shocking the permanent governing classes to the core. Enough to arouse the hatred that prompted Trudeau to invoke the “Emergencies Act” to destroy those condemned for having a view that he found “unacceptable”.
The “Act” has been rescinded but the contemptible mayor of Ottawa still wants to sell the seized trucks and keep the money. At $150,000 new, it’s highway robbery. Today’s globalist assault through the prime minister’s office on Canadians’ sovereignty has been the invidious “War Measures Act”, which was imposed by decree by the Liberal Party of Canada and then rubber-stamped by a minority government. A concerning step fronting the world-wide control movement that has been “on” for more than a hundred years. Instead of meeting with the “Freedom Convoy” and moving to reduce increasingly costly intrusion, Trudeau invoked draconian powers and with no evidence called “Freedom” an “insurrection”.. A propaganda blunder that can never be reconciled, and the minority government is becoming more precarious with each error. It is particularly ironic because the intrusion based upon any tout is losing around the world. Six Canadian provinces have reduced mandates while the federasts force draconian measures. Foolhardy. And to place it in perspective, once again ordinary folk are suffering the crazed politics that attend times of disturbing inflation. Ironically made worse by central bankers imposing impractical theories about “managing” the economy. Their latest blunder involves spending most of the last decade “worrying” that inflation was too low, such that they arbitrarily injected too much credit into what has become a runaway inflation.

Now, many are realizing that these “experts” stupidly caused painfully high inflation Another set of “experts” is at last coming under popular scrutiny with the discovery that most regulations about masks and lockdowns have been ineffectual, as another contagious disease runs its natural course. Two years ago, lockdowns were imposed for only two weeks and subsequently health “Czars” most everywhere have been Inconsistent with mandates – one day on, the next off and back again. And then there is the audacity that other “experts” can set the temperature of the nearest planet – at get this – 288 K, plus or minus half a degree. Both objective and precision are impractical which brings this article to today’s big issue. Both sides of the political division believe that the other side is crazy, but this can be readily resolved. In the Third Century, the administrative state went authoritarian and destroyed Rome’s magnificent example of prosperity and freedom. And then it was trashed by control freaks and inflation forcing hardship that endured for generations.

The next Tyrannical Century ran through the 1500s, replicating the Roman disaster, both in timing, inflation and subsequent hardship. Both examples of destructive political madness. Regrettably, beginning in the early 1900s and under the still inspiring banners of communism and progressivism history is recording another Tyrannical Century with Canada’s latest massive intrusion creating another gotterdammerung. Which while implying disaster, only means the “collapse of the gods”, and not a moment too soon. Prime Minister Trudeau is “progressive” but states that he admires the communist government in China. A foot in each dreadful camp. Long known, has been Soros funding climate hysteria in Canada. Just as insidious are the recent the boasts by Klaus Schwab head of the World Economic Forum, a combination of politically powerful and powerfully wealthy individuals who just have to be control freaks. Fascism is defined as the combination of big government and big business. Recently, Schwab stated that the WEF has influence with Liberal cabinet ministers and Canada Free Press recently reviewed that Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland is a WEF board member. A few years ago, Trudeau appointed David Morrison as his special advisor. Still holding the position, Morrison from 1995 to 1999 was a “Director and Member of the Executive Board, World Economic Forum”. Later he held executive posts with the United Nations in NYC.

In 2020, America’s Democrat-run cities such as Seattle and Portland suffered more than a billion dollars of property damage due to riots and arson. Not to overlook murder and the Democrats provided bail such that the mob could return to mayhem as soon as possible. Trudeau approved and “took the knee” in sympathy. It required a lot of money and organization to keep the riots going and while there was considerable support amongst Canada’s Left, there was no looting, arson or riots. Because Canadians are law abiding? No – because America is the key barrier to world governance and has to be conquered. Canada was already within the fold of sheeple, or so globalists thought. Until the “Freedom Convoy” peacefully demonstrated that many Canadians are not authoritarian and have had enough nihilism by control freaks. The problem is that Ottawa is more than 90 percent Liberal, and the rest is socialist and has been in a cocoon that thinks “everybody admires do-good Liberals” and it has been shocking to discover this is not the case. Worse, those who have a regard for individual freedom and limited government took their dissatisfaction right to the capital. And the establishment that denies alternative points of view in being confronted by a graphically delivered “No!” has been gobsmacked. But it has shown that Canada’s federal government is not a government but one very angry and hating Liberal Party of Canada, supported by a rump socialist party–all promoted by state-run and state-financed media.

Inspired by Canadian truckers, another “Glorious” is underway

It took Trudeau three weeks to discover a backbone, and in imposing draconian measures, turned brutal. Including retroactive fines and seizing bank accounts of ordinary folk expressing their criticism of arrogant government. He has been undemocratic, which even the Leftist Canadian Civil Liberties Association criticized. But hey, the “Measure” diminished the “No!” and Ottawa can return to its comforting cocoon, but that ain’t gonna happen. As Victor Hugo observed: “Nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come”, and what ordinary folk are attempting now is another great reformation. Some intellectuals can guide, but real history provides practical example. Through the 1500s, bone-headed authoritarianism had its way as London merchants in knowing how to create prosperity scorned it as “Tyrannical Duncery”. And as in-your-face and in-your-wallet government became too much it prompted the “Glorious Revolution” of 1688 which was a bloodless political reform. Inspired by Canadian truckers, another “Glorious” is underway. James II was the last absolutist king. In so many words a control freak who just had to have his way, but he began to see the tide of public opinion turn against him. Wisely he “vacated” the throne seeking solace in authoritarian France.
The prime minister brutally enforced his will as possibly Canada’s last absolutist ruler and ordinary folk are well into another “Glorious”. As the benign popular uprising continues, Trudeau II and his fellow travelers should seek solace in a hopelessly authoritarian country, as soon as possible. After all, Russia has truckers.

Bob Hoye (BobHoye.com) has been researching investments for decades, which eventually included the history of financial and political markets. He considers now to be the most fascinating time for both since the Great Reformation of the 1600s.  Bob casts a caustic eye on all promotions and, having a degree in geophysics, is severely critical of the audacity that a committee can “manage” not just the economy, but also the temperature of the nearest planet. He has had articles published in major financial journals and, as a speaker, has amused assemblies in a number of cities, from London to Zurich to Tokyo.
