Conyers Sees No Point in Members Reading 1,000-Page Health Care Bill--Unless They Have 2 Lawyers to Interpret It for Them

(CNSNews.com) - During a speech at a National Press Club luncheon, the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Democratic Congressman John Conyers (D-Mich.), questioned the point of lawmakers reading the health care bill. “What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”

This is a sample from the so-called “experts” that write our laws and expect people elected to Congress to understand them? This is what we should expect when we put Socialist liberals in charge of our daily governance in Washington. Imagine – saying you need two days and two lawyers to find out what a piece of proposed legislation means! Outrageous! Government History Lesson:

The Department of Energy was created in August 1977 by Jimmy Carter to decrease our dependence on foreign oil.

Now, 32 years later we are even MORE dependent of foreign oil and the agency has grown to 116,000 employees, both federal and contract, with an annual budget of $24.2 BILLION. Why is our liberal government so opposed to drilling for oil in our proven oil deposits off our shores where China and Cuba openly gather oil that could be coming into this country? Also in our oil shale deposits in the Western states that equal Saudi Arabian supplies? And NOW, we have turned the Banking System, Health Care and the Auto Industry over to them? Why? Because the voters lost sight of how much damage a liberal Congress can do to the country, particularly when supported by a liberal president. This insanity has got to stop or we WILL be under the control of the corrupt and incompetent United Nations. Our ultra liberal president has openly declared that he favors the concept of One World government, perhaps because he feels that HE will be its leader. With what he has shown so far, that could be the end of the United States and the world as well.

Courtesy of Mark Alexander, Patriot Post.US 7/27/09: Though Obama has extended the benefit of doubt to folks like Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Palestinian Mahmoud Abbas, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and Russia's Vladimir Putin, (and I will add: exiled Honduras president Manuel Zelaya); when it comes to a couple of local U. S. cops, he convicted them of “stupidity” sight unseen.

Why is Obama so insistent that he must act like a foreigner and anti-American when in the presence of tyrants, dictators, and a heavy-handed ruler who tried to force a change in the Constitution to allow him to continue in office even though a Hondurus court ruled the change was illegal. In the incident in Honduras, Obama sided with tyrants Chavez and Putin to allow Zelaya to return as President.

(Excerpts from CNSNews.com), Wednesday, July 22, 2009 By Terence P. Jeffrey, Editor-in-Chief President Barack Obama claims that there are 47 million Americans without health insurance. That assertion conflicts with data in the Census Bureau report "Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the United States: 2007. The report discloses that there were 45.65 million people in the U.S. who did not have health insurance in 2007. However, it also reveals that there were 9.73 million foreigners — foreign-born non-citizens who were in the country in 2007 — included in that number. So the number of uninsured Americans was actually 35.92 million. And of those, "there were also 9.1 million people making more than $75,000 per year who did not choose to purchase health insurance," That brings the number of Americans who lack health insurance presumably for financial reasons down to LESS than 27 million. The Census Bureau report also shows that the number of people without insurance actually went down in 2007 compared to the previous year — from 47 million to 45.65 million — while the number with insurance rose from 249.8 million to 253.4 million. The next Census Bureau report disclosing health insurance data, with 2008 numbers, is scheduled to be released in August.

So what it all boils down to is that somewhere around 25 to 26 million people out of 315 million citizens don’t have health care insurance. WE SHOULD FIND WAYS TO GIVE IT TO ONLY THEM. I feel sure that we could justify providing health insurance to the truly needy if that’s what the bulk of them are. Leave everyone else alone with what they’ve got. I’m sure it wouldn’t cost as much in increased taxes and shortages of doctors and long waiting lines as the proposed boondoggle of 1,000 pages of gobbledegook which will only “reform” costs UPWARD. The major complaint is that there must be reform due to the high cost of health care in America. Yes, it is costly; but we have it, otherwise we wouldn’t find people from countries around the world coming to the U. S. for their health needs. As with any commodity you can name, the cost is high; many say too high. But where do you begin cutting costs; Doctor’s Salaries? Medical administration? Drugs? Supplies? When you cut costs you will almost certainly cut service. This is what will happen if the government gets involved; they have never solved any problem that they’ve ever dealt with; why should we trust them now? I don’t! On of their biggest faults is that for every dollar that they claim to cut on costs they somehow or other wind up spending 3 to 5 dollars of taxpayer money. That’s called Congressional math, aided and abetted by the President.
