Tim Hudak Sets PC Caucus Priorities for Spring Session of the Legislature

NEWS

Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak today outlined the three key priorities that the Ontario PC Caucus will be focusing on during the spring session of the Ontario Legislature:

  • Fighting for more private sector jobs and a stronger economy.
  • Demanding more accountability from the McGuinty Government in the wake of their growing list of scandals and mismanagement.
  • Defending Ontario families currently struggling with a rising cost of living thanks to Dalton McGuinty’s disastrous tax-and-spend policies.
  • The Ontario PC Caucus will also use the Legislature to ensure that the public receives the answers they deserve on Dalton McGuinty’s health care scandals, fiscal mismanagement, $3 billion HST tax grab, and multibillion dollar sweetheart Samsung deal.

QUOTES

“Under this Premier we have seen government grow faster than the rate of inflation, population growth and GDP combined, while job losses in the private sector across the province continue to escalate.” -- MPP Randy Hillier, Lanark, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington “The callous disregard McGuinty has towards the hardworking people of Ontario has been demonstrated through lack of public consultation on the HST, rejection of our request for a public inquiry into the billion dollar eHealth scandal, and his refusal to address the real concerns that impact the ability of people and businesses to succeed and prosper in this province.” -- MPP Randy Hillier, Lanark, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington “While Ontario taxpayers ante up billions of hard earned tax dollars for more expensive green energy, McGuinty's underhanded Samsung deal shuffles our money to Korea and cuts out Ontario industry from the competition.” -- MPP Randy Hillier, Lanark, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington

QUICK FACTS

  • Dalton McGuinty is currently spending $2.8 million more than he takes in every hour. At his current rate, Dalton McGuinty is on course to single handedly double Ontario’s debt by 2012-2013.
  • Throughout 2009, Dalton McGuinty promised $32 billion in so-called ‘stimulus’ and promised to create over a million new jobs while, in reality, presiding over the loss of 140,000 net jobs.
  • Dalton McGuinty’s multibillion dollar hand out to Samsung is just the latest example in a long pattern in which the McGuinty Liberals hand out sweetheart deals to foreign companies. Previously, Dalton McGuinty has been caught handing out $263 million to a France-based video game company on the promise that they will create 800 jobs within 10 years. The McGuinty Liberals have also offered a $10,000 rebate to subsidize General Motors’ Chevy Volt car – a vehicle that is not even manufactured in Canada.
  • Since coming to office Dalton McGuinty has increased personal income taxes, corporate taxes and small business taxes. On July 1st the cost of gas, hydro, home heating fuel and dozens of other everyday goods and services will also skyrocket thanks to the HST. These new costs make life even more unaffordable for families struggling with skyrocketing insurance and utility costs.
