Anthony Weiner’s former boss and longtime mentor, Sen. Chuck Schumer, is perhaps the only New York politician who could persuade the embattled congressman to resign. “The feeling seems to be that the only way Weiner will resign is Schumer telling him to leave,” says a well-connected New York Democratic political consultant, who asked for anonymity because of the delicacy of the situation. “That’s the only circumstance people can imagine because their relationship is so close—and it will only happen if Weiner’s mentor abandons him.”But is Schumer enough of a man to set aside partisan politics long enough to do what is right for the integrity of the US House? Time to man-up, Senator Schumer, and encourage this self-absorbed extremist to take his pornographic twits out of the news by resigning. Now. Tell Weiner to follow the lead set by Republican Christopher Lee who resigned immediately after his bare-chest photo turned into a scandal. To remain silent, Senator, suggests that you are not concerned that the esteemed US House is becoming a sexual circus at the hands of your “talented” protégé and friend. By the way, what “talents” were you referring to with respect to Weiner? Photography? Mass distribution? Lying under pressure?
