The Democratic Party and media allies need to learn the lesson and attempt to regain our trust

Most Americans will agree that the 2024 election was “unique”. It wasn’t just the lawfare and multiple assassination attempts against Trump. Since 1968, no serving first-term President has ended his campaign for a second term. Never in history has a serving first-term president left the race as the party nominee as Biden did. Americans know what happened: Democrats and media allies covered up President Joe Biden’s mental decline, but during the first debate with Donald Trump the truth came out. For weeks before the debate, Joe Biden was seen on videos with substantial mental acuity issues.
The Left’s response was to attack those videos as alleged “cheap fakes”, even when the videos were from press pools directly to reporters. Though conservatives weren’t surprised at Joe Biden’s debate performance, Democrats and media allies gave Oscar Award winning performances of shock and surprise. After the debate, top Democrats forced Biden out of the race, against his will. Biden had claimed that only if “the Lord Almighty” told him to leave the race would he leave. (BBC, July 6, 2024)
Then came the pressure and capitulation and Harris losing the race. We should expect some kind of accountability for the coverup, but instead, in a January 5 ‘Meet the Press' interview, Chuck Schumer showed the gaslighting will continue.
In a surprising show of journalistic integrity, NBC News’ Kristin Welker played a clip of Schumer gaslighting about Biden’s mental acuity months before the debate. From Schumer: “(Biden’s) mental acuity is great. It’s fine. It’s as good as it’s been over the years. All this right wing propaganda that his mental acuity has declined is wrong.” Welker asked Schumer what he would tell Americans who believed the Democrats lied about Biden acuity. Schumer’s response was an unbelievable denial of reality: “We didn’t (mislead about Biden). Let’s look at Biden. He’s had an amazing record…. He’s a great guy, and when he stepped down he did it on his own because he thought it was better, not only for the Democratic Party, but for America. We should salute him.” (Fox News, Jan. 5, 2025)
Showing the continued media complicity in the Biden coverup, after the Schumer interview, MSNBC host Symone Sanders Townsend claimed Schumer should have been gaslighting far more than he did “The question on the table is, is the president all the way there? And the answer is unequivocally yes, people can say that you feel as though President Biden might be a little to old to do the job, but he’s doing the job, his mental acuity is there….. these people that have known Joe Biden for their entire lives and I know President Biden and it’s like, can you all defend me a little more?” Yes, Townsend actually argued that the Democrat and media friends of Joe Biden have a duty to “defend” him despite the existential danger of a Commander in Chief who was forced out as Democratic nominee when his mental decline could no longer be hidden from the American people.
Beyond endangering the nation with the coverup, the argument that the Democratic party owes Biden a continued gaslighting defense, with further loss of credibility, has no merit. When Joe Biden ran for President in 2020, he promised the Democratic Party he would be a “transitional figure” and a “bridge” to a new generation of Democratic Party leaders, clearly promising a one-term Presidency. (CNN, March 9, 2020)
As Reported by Axios “Biden acknowledged during an interview with BET News that aired July 17, 2024 that he had originally run for president as a “transitional candidate” and that he had expected to “pass it on to someone else (after the first term).”
According to Biden, that changed because he “hadn’t expected how polarized that U.S. would become” and that he had demonstrated “that I know how to get things done for the country” and “there’s more to do and I’m reluctant to walk away from that.” (Axios, July 18, 2024)
Considering Biden was the most divisive president in modern history, stigmatized even supporters of his political opponent as a “threat to Democracy”, the polarization Biden decried belongs right at his feet.
More problematic than Biden’s mental acuity issues is Biden’s continued misleading of the Democratic Party and the American people. We all know of Joe Biden’s dissembling of his knowledge and role in his son Hunter’s business dealings with Burisma and the Chinese.
Shoes have been dropping throughout his administration. We all watched Joe Biden’s firm promises not to pardon his son only to do so after the election. The examples of Joe Biden breaking his word abound.
In promising he would not run for a second term, Joe Biden cut off the legitimate concerns of a President being elected in his 80s. In seeking and obtaining the Democratic nomination, while knowing of his mental acuity issues, Joe Biden forced the Democrats out of a vetting process to pick their nominee.
This past election should have shown that gaslighting and dissembling lead to defeat. The Democratic Party and media allies need to learn the lesson and attempt to regain our trust.
Proverbs 12:22 tells us “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in people who are trustworthy.”
Truth must be first if trust is to be rebuilt.
