Demanding that everyone wear masks is a symptom of an unhinging society that will bow to unreasonable fear to the extent of absurdity. It's as ridiculous as wearing a tin foil hat

Tin foil hats, amulets rule America's response to WuFlu

Tin foil hats, amulets rule America's response to WuFluSuperstition has reached new heights reminiscent of the Middle Ages. Showing up as discrimination, it's not only unchecked racism dividing the nation, striking deeper into the culture is the required fashion accessory that serves as much purpose as a tin foil hat or a garlic amulet – the facemask. Panicked individuals sporting paper or fabric face coverings, ranging from haute couture  (á lá Speaker Pelosi) to a kerchief tied around their heads, have been videoed screeching accusations of genocide at barefaced shoppers and dog walkers. The vile charges rise from ignorance of the efficacy of mandated masks, barely legal (mostly unconstitutional) edicts made by otherwise powerless authorities.

Masks are no better than a placebo

Masks are no better than a placebo that supplies a delusion of protection from a virus that is too small to be restricted by the cloth or paper contraptions hanging from a person's ears. In this "information age," the information being disseminated about the coronavirus' origin, spread, deadliness and elimination amount to an official rumor mill of censored and manipulated data. Forcing the populace to don facemasks is the institution of fallacy. Government officials may as well have ordered people to put paper sacks over their heads with eye cutouts. They'd actually be more useful to the wearer in that their lungs would be better oxygenated, relieving the headaches and other maladies mask wearers are suffering. The superstition that masks guard against spreading infection has caused hysteria among the foolish to the point that properly informed individuals are hounded and refused service in a supposedly free society. (I underwent that myself being refused entry into a Dollar General the other night. Luckily, another DG down the road knew better than to turn away a paying customer and literally spite their own face.) Similar treatment occurred to those who didn't follow superstitious protocols during the Black Death that swept Europe in the Middle Ages. Anything that appeared to be out of the normal range of behavior was rewarded with ostracizing, condemnation and even death delivered by frenzied mobs. Suspicious actions could include1 a traveler stopping to rest by the roadside or a penitent sweeping a pew with his cloak before sitting in church after offering prayer at the altar. Facemask idolatry is born of pure superstition that is being generously dispensed by faux or coerced scientists, corrupt politicians and media bent on controlling what was, until this year, a free populace. Discrimination against Christians, in particular, who worship God with voices meant to be unhindered by earthly impediments (in this case, masks) is being established by government decree.

Superstition gets out-of-hand among the ignorant

Is this much different from the three Hebrew youths being commanded to bow before the giant image of the Babylonian king, giving obeisance to a false god and so denying God? (Daniel 3) Automatic reaction to the previous statement may be "there is no comparison" but that's not so. The mask has as little power to save an individual from infection as the gold statue had of saving the boys' souls from destruction. It's also not probable a "peaceful protest" – as President Trump referred to maskless attendees of his press conference – will land anyone in a fiery furnace like it did with the three Hebrew youths. When it comes to the Bubonic Plague, it ran its course more than once through the populace before it died out. The Chinese virus, Covid-19 or whatever tag's been given to the current bug, is going the same route while incurring a tiny fraction of the millions of deaths delivered by the plague. What the SARS-coronavirus has done is make a mockery of the ‘breath of life' bestowed by God upon mankind. It is being characterized as a fetid gas from which transmission we all need protection – except the imposed "protection" is the poison. Instead of allowing the expelled CO2 to be absorbed into the atmosphere where it feeds green plants, it is being forced back into the lungs where it starves the mask wearer of oxygen. Is that, then, the purpose of the mask? To enhance illness? To increase the numbers of the sick by adding individuals affected by wrong application of facemasks? To rush people into believing that a vaccine will be the salvation of society when all that's necessary is to allow the virus to run its natural course, the mortality rate being minimal comparative to the seasonal flu? Superstition gets out-of-hand among the ignorant. Supposed spreaders of the Black Death were killed in a number of horrid ways, sometimes burned as witches. In Europe, small communities bore the brunt of such intolerance, notably the Jews because they were "different."2

How is this better than kidnapping?

Today, the ones who are different are the Christians who place their faith in God, relying on His Word that dispels fear, supplying health and healing to those who refuse to compromise by wearing a mask that serves no purpose other than to damage one's health, not improve it. There's one last thing to be mentioned here, and that is the isolation that is being forced upon anyone foolhardy enough to seek medical assistance for a physical problem during this dubbed pandemic. Once the suffering individual is admitted to a healthcare facility, be it urgent care, an emergency room, hospital or a rehabilitation center, they are separated from family to undergo whatever treatment the physician prescribes. How is this better than kidnapping? Not to demean the good intent of most doctors and healthcare workers but the enforced isolation is cruel and unusual punishment applied to innocent patients, whereas criminals are being set free by the thousands in response to Covid-19. Family members are kept out of the loop and are refused the ability to be present to supply solace to their loved ones, who may be undergoing frightening surgery or radiation treatments. The superstition of infection has undermined the very concept of physicians to "do no harm" when patients are being subjected to anxiety, loneliness or dread of a painful procedure. Demanding that everyone wear masks is a symptom of an unhinging society that will bow to unreasonable fear to the extent of absurdity. It's as ridiculous as wearing a tin foil hat.
