Tonight, in Philadelphia, Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will receive the "Liberty Medal." That's the highest honor offered by "The National Constitution Center." If you're unfamiliar with the NCC, here's how the organization describes itself on its website:
The National Constitution Center is the first and only nonprofit, nonpartisan institution devoted to the most powerful vision of freedom ever expressed: the U.S. Constitution. Located on Independence Mall in Historic Philadelphia, the birthplace of American freedom, the Center illuminates constitutional ideals and inspires active citizenship through a state-of-the-art museum experience, including hundreds of interactive exhibits, films and rare artifacts; must-see feature exhibitions; the internationally acclaimed, 360-degree theatrical production Freedom Rising; and the iconic Signers' Hall, where visitors can sign the Constitution alongside 42 life-size, bronze statues of the Founding Fathers.
The Center's Chairman of the Board of Trustees is none other than Jeb Bush, former Florida Governor, presidential brother, and a man occasionally rumored to be seeking his own term in the White house. Clearly, he believes that Hillary Clinton is nothing if not a deep, abiding, supporter of Constitutionality. According to the Center, “The Liberty Medal recognizes individuals who have furthered the ideals of freedom, democracy, and equality, often against great odds. Hillary Clinton has devoted her life to expanding opportunities for ‘We the People’ not just in this country but around the globe.”

A statement from Jeb Bush reiterates this, claiming that “Former Secretary Clinton has dedicated her life to serving and engaging people across the world in democracy. These efforts as a citizen, an activist, and a leader have earned Secretary Clinton this year’s Liberty Medal.” They've just got to be kidding. If you need to know why we should forever banish the names "Clinton" and "Bush" from American politics, this should stand as exhibit A. That Jeb Bush would allow his allegedly pro-Constitution think tank and museum to present its highest honor to a woman like Hillary Clinton is the very height of fraudulent political theatre. That he's issuing statements justifying the decision is representative of exactly the kind of go-along-to-get-along insider B.S. that is destroying this country. The fact that this charade is taking place on the eve of the 1st anniversary of the Benghazi attacks is utterly disgusting. On the other hand, perhaps we should be grateful. We're learning a lot about Jeb Bush here. His decision to honor Hillary as some kind of pro-democracy constitutional hero tells us three things: A: He either cares nothing - or knows nothing - about the Constitution he claims to honor. B: He's willing to partake in a beltway con job that places political gamesmanship above the founding document. C: He's utterly unfit to hold future public office. Frankly, I think the Bush brand is damaged beyond all hope of salvation. I've believed that for a while. However, this should put the final nail in the family's political coffin. Any true conservative who could bear to vote for Jeb Bush after this fiasco should have his head examined.
