"We need to talk about traffic now." (Editorial, May 22):

Traffic control

While an expanded and integrated regional transit-system is a must, I think the traffic problem could also be improved if we paid a little less attention to the biking-bunch and a little more attention to car owners. No matter how good a public transit system is, the car will remain top choice for the majority.

Biking, like horseback riding, is great fun, but it should be banned on main city-streets. What we really need is more elevated and underground parking places and more expressways - why couldn't the DVP, for instance, be double decked? If we can't handle the number of cars we have now, how are we supposed to handle the tens of thousands of new ones that will be coming down the pike over the next ten years of expected growth in the GTA?
