Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood

Transportation Secretary wants zero phone use for drivers

More evidence of progressive fascism - defined as “the all-out push to control every aspect of every citizen’s life” - surfaced this week when Transportation Secretary, Ray LaHood, a Republican, asserted his desire to ban phone-use in cars. LaHood stated in an interview:

“I don’t want people talking on phones, having them up to their ear or texting while driving. We need a lot better research on other distractions as well, including Bluetooth-enabled hands-free calls.”
I, I, I…. Either LaHood has been hanging out with the boss, or is just another insulated bureaucrat incapable of seeing the folly of his ways. The use of the personal pronoun, I, as in “I make the rules, and you WILL follow them,” clearly portrays a political bubble. Imagine being a salesman, a citizen with a J-O-B, who for a living SATISFIES CUSTOMERS, and imagine, as you drive, that something comes up – you need to track a shipment, your schedule changes, the presidential motor-pool has traffic plugged to Trenton – but you can’t, thanks to Ray, relax, flip and dial. Imagine losing the customer, your job and your car, simply because LaHood lost his mind. Only bureaucrats concoct such lunacy. What it amounts to is ham-handed destruction of choice and free-will. It isn’t government’s role to restrict communication using “safety” as a ploy. Some might say this is minor, that it isn’t wise to make a “mountain out of a mole-hill,” but death by a thousand cuts is still death. LaHood says his goal is “to get fifty states.” I say to him, Secretary—Get lost!
