Machu Picchu
Machu Picchu: the famed 15th century Inca citadel which still remains as a shining hallmark of classical Inca civilization, fills you with awe at the true beauties of a past culture. Machu Picchu was home to the Inca emperor Pachacuti and is inundated with the holiness this place calls for. This bucket list destination is a UNESCO’s World Heritage Site and attracts the attention of 400,000 tourists every single year.

The Incan ruins cry out to adventurers who crave a destination immersed in history and panoramic views of untouched nature unlike others in its depth of beauty and power. Walk through the Inca Trail and view artifacts such as the Intihuatana stone, believed to be the Incan astrological calendar. Become enchanted by the Temple of the Sun and the feel the history which reverberates through the atmosphere. The serenity of Machu Picchu will envelop your adventurous self and allow you to enjoy the peace of the ruins around you. It will fill you with the spirit of cultural traditions and historical reverence as you traverse time and space — all the while checking off another destination on your bucket list of dreams.

Getting There

The historic ruins and ancient monuments make Machu Picchu seem almost inaccessible. However, travelling to Machu Picchu is easy when using the well-situated Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport in Cusco, Peru. The famous citadel is located directly outside of the cities boundaries. International travel directly to this airport is limited to few airlines, so many travellers find connecting flights through the Jorge Chavez International Airport in Lima, Peru, as the quickest option. Once at the Alejandro Airport, you have the option to use the scheduled tours in order to get to the ruins, or venture on your own through bus systems and rental vehicles.
