Tweedledee to replace Tweedledum. Ho hum.

The Liberals are on the ropes. Justin Trudeau has resigned, but his replacement will be the same.

Trudeau prorogued Parliament for a few months to give the Liberals time to pick another leader. Mark Carney? Chrystia Freeland? Who knows. But anti-gun progressives will still run the circus. The Liberals remain contemptuous of Canadians.

There will be another confidence vote when Parliament reconvenes in March. Jag Singh claims the NDP will abandon its support for the Liberals. But Singh’s actions rarely match his mouth. He’s much more likely to be the last rat leaving.

Whoever becomes Liberal leader, the Liberals will remain anti-gun.

We may be looking at an election in the Fall. The new Liberal leader will need a few months to attempt to seduce Canadians. A new face on the same old progressive gang. All aspirants for Liberal leader have supported the Liberal assault on law-abiding gun owners.

Parliament may resume with a different Liberal leader. But whatever happens, the anti-gun progressives will stay in charge. Whoever is Liberal leader, the Liberals will remain anti-gun.
This is no time to stop giving Trudeau trouble.

Former Finance Minister, Chrystia Freeland may be the next Liberal leader. If so, expect no change in the Liberal hatredof — and contempt for — citizen gun owners.

Or maybe “carbon tax” Carney will be anointed leader? Another Ignatieff. A new face for the same old progressive policies: High taxes, open borders, hug-a-thug policies, and contempt for civilian gun owners.

For the progressive Liberals, the leader is just a “shiny ornament” used to attract votes. Freeland would be no improvement, she promises to “never water down our measures on gun control in C-21.”

Always kick an opponent when he’s down.

That was the advice a young street fighter once gave me. Not only does that ensure your opponent stays down, he pointed out, but it discourages him from attacking you again.

The Liberals are contemptuous of regular Canadians

Now that the Liberals are on the ropes, Canadians need to keep kicking them. We need to discourage future attacks on our rights.

To keep our guns, we must elect the Conservatives.
And, if the Conservatives form government, we must ride herd on them. Politicians only keep promises if their feet are held to the fire.

Unless the Conservatives form government, progressives will continue to run Ottawa and continue to undermine traditional Canada.

Here’s a list of recent Liberal restrictions on lawful firearms ownership:

1995 Bill C-68 – Criminalized firearms ownership
– Mandated continually renewed licence
– Imposed long-gun registry
– Prohibited over one-half of legal handguns

2019 Bill C-71 – Required permission to buy or sell any firearm
– Forced retailers to keep list of lawful owners

2020 OIC – Prohibited over 500,000 “scary-looking” semi-auto long guns

2022 OIC – Handgun freeze

2022 Bill C-5 – Hug-a-thug law

– Scrapped mandatory minimum sentences, for 13 firearm offences, including:
–Robbery with a gun
–Extortion with a gun
–Reckless discharge of a firearm
–Drive-by shootings
–Shooting with intent to endanger a life
–Using a gun in commission of a crime

–Illegal firearm possession

– and mandatory minimum sentences were scrapped for

The Liberals plan to confiscate more so-called “assault-style” firearms

The Liberals are working to prohibit and confiscate all rifles and shotguns with these three qualities:
– centre-fire
– semi-auto
– mag-fed (detachable mags)

Behind the scenes, the Liberals are drafting regulations to order the confiscations by an executive decree known as an “order in council” (OiC).

Initially, they had planned to require the confiscations via Bill C-21 Amendment G-4 (g), which proposed to expand the definition of “Prohibited” firearm, but they balked. It’s only on pause. They remain committed to banning more lawfully held firearms.

Hug-a-thug policies fail to protect innocent Canadians

The Trudeau Liberals are playing politics with the police and the law and doing so undermines our safety. Favored groups are treated with kid gloves while normal people are considered to be public safety threats. Thanks to Liberal catch-and-release policy, violent crime has increased almost 30 percent since Justin Trudeau was first elected PM in 2015.

The homicide rate has increased 27% since 2015, while firearm homicides have increased 60% from 181 to 289. According to StatsCan, Canada’s homicide rate in 2022 was the highest since 1992. 2023 was down slightly but still much higher than during the Harper era.

Police officers are being murdered in the line of duty at horrifying rates. These gruesome increases are driven by gang-related killings.

Hug-a-thug policies fail to protect the public.

The Trudeau Liberals gun control policies have not worked. It’s time to abandon “catch and release” policies and return to the traditional principles of policing espoused by Sir Robert Peel, the father of modern policing. Sir Robert Peel introduced the “Bobbies,” to London, England back in 1822, by promising that police would honour the basic rules of fairness.

According to Sir Robert Peel, the police need to share the responsibility of policing duties with the public, not act as an occupying force. For the good of the community, the police should work with the residents, encouraging them to help in protecting public safety, not just impose dictates from Ottawa.

The Liberals have abandoned Sir Robert’s Peel’s principles of honourable policing.
