The Daily Mail was first to report on the extent of the injuries from the two explosions. Further Information is scarce at this point. Live feeds and still shots show a scene of bloody carnage. “Eyewitnesses at the scene said there was a loud explosion and emergency vehicles crowded the scene.” (Daily Mail, April 15, 2013). Some news outlets are reporting that there were two explosions, one only seconds of the other. Police officers rushed to the scene as smoke billowed.

“ ‘There are a lot of people down’, one man whose bib No. 17528 identified him as Frank Deruyter of North Carolina, told the Associated Press.” A spokesman for the Boston Marathon said that the race’s headquarters are on lock down. Train service on the green line between Kenmore and Park has been suspended, according to the MBTA. Windows of Marathon sports store were blown out by the force of the two blasts. According to another news outlet, runners who had not finished the race, were diverted straight down Commonwealth Ave. and into a family meeting area, according to an emergency plan that had been in place.
