UN Attacks Western Democracies for So-Called 'Systemic Racism'The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights just issued a report that focused on the alleged failure of the United States, Canada, and other Western democracies to adequately address and correct so-called “systematic racism” against Africans and people of African descent. The UN report, commissioned by the dysfunctional UN Human Rights Council, praised the Marxist Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. And it parroted the Critical Race Theory’s attempt to tie every adverse condition and experience that blacks claim to suffer today in the U.S., Canada and other Western democracies to “systemic racism” rooted in the continuing legacy of slavery and colonialism.

The UN Human Rights Council has China, Russia, Cuba, and other human-rights abusing countries as members

“Systemic racism often manifests itself in pervasive racial stereotypes, prejudice and bias and is frequently rooted in histories and legacies of enslavement, the transatlantic trade in enslaved Africans and colonialism,” the report said. Never mind that slavery in the U.S. ended more than 150 years ago and that the transatlantic trade ended years before that. Never mind the great progress that has been made in recent decades by the U.S. and other Western democracies to legislate and enforce anti-discrimination laws. That’s not nearly enough according to the UN’s sanctimonious high priests, who used radical left organizations like the ACLU as among their chief research sources. We are told that radical transformative changes, apologies today for the sins of the distant past, and full reparations are required to atone for and remove “the racially discriminatory structures” built on the legacy of slavery. What makes this pompous self-righteous report so galling is its sheer hypocrisy. Only once in passing did the UN report even mention the existence of slavery in Africa today, with a single reference to Libya. The report did not say a word about the slavery of black Africans today in other parts of Africa, particularly in Mauritania. Not a word was said about Africans selling other Africans into bondage while the transatlantic slave trade was thriving or the major role that Arabs have played in the enslavement of Africans. The UN Human Rights Council has China, Russia, Cuba, and other human-rights abusing countries as members. And they dare to lecture us?

China uses forced labor today

China uses forced labor today. Senegal, which was just elected to serve a 3 year term on the Human Rights Council, tolerates children as young as five being forced today into street begging under the guise of religious education. And so on. Instead of strongly condemning and holding such human rights abusing countries accountable for the equivalent of slavery that still exists there today, the UN’s travesty of a human rights apparatus is targeting democratic, pluralistic countries. These freedom loving nations have led the way in eradicating slavery and in building more prosperous and inclusive societies. Yet the UN’s bureaucrats too often mouth the left wing progressive critique of capitalism and Western democratic values. Nevertheless, President Biden thinks it is a good idea for the United States to rejoin the UN Human Rights Council and take its recommendations seriously. This is part of his America Last foreign policy. Instead, as the U.S. celebrates its Independence Day, it should declare its independence from globalist institutions purporting to tell Americans what to do.
