Unlike You and Me, Kamala Harris Will Still Get Security

This isn't a hate 'Kamala Harris' post.I think her rarified position as a former-wildly unpopular-Vice President justifies her need for high level protection.

I don't begrudge her that fact.I do begrudge the fact that after revocation of her Biden autopen-extended US Secret Service detail, she was quickly provided protection by two law enforcement agencies, the California Highway Patrol and the Los Angeles Police Department.

Now it's only the Highway Patrol watching her back. Outcry over diverted police resources to protect Harris led to LAPD being pulled out.

My acute concern is that many non-US Vice Presidents, working class citizens I lovingly call 'everyday VIPs,' didn't get the initial protection Harris received while a district attorney, state attorney general, US senator and VP.

For us, VIP protection is what we do to individually secure ourselves, alongside coverage from family, friends, and good Samaritans upon memorable occasions.

That's our reality. We get 911 busy signals and deactivated departments whose officers often act like complainants need to make reservations before calling for police service.

We're told the police aren't our personal bodyguards while watching officers personally bodyguard elected officials, corporate heads and celebrities.

Unlike you and me, Kamala Harris will still get security.

We non-Vice Presidents must 'borrow a brother' in the form of men willing to stand watch and 'snag a sister' from among our female counterparts.

We watch each other's backs.
