Congratulations to Democrats everywhere. Obama has become so unpopular that he's not only destroying his own presidency, he's dragging his party down with it

Unpopular Obama promises Senate Dems he won't hurt them by trying to help them get re-elected

Hey, Democrat candidates. Remember the good ol' days? There was a time when Obama's approval rating was so sky-high that virtually every left-wing politician in America was salivating at the mere thought that the President might look their way and wink. If you managed to get a handshake or a photo-op, you'd be as giddy as a schoolgirl meeting Paul McCartney (the cute one) in 1964. A chosen few had curried so much favor that the Commander in Chief would actually answer the call by tearing himself away from the golf course to help campaign. This was seen as a major coup.

My, how things have changed. These days, the President is absolutely toxic, as the Washington Post reports:
President Obama, struggling with low approval ratings after a dispiriting year of setbacks, conceded in private remarks Wednesday that some fellow Democrats might not want his help in this fall’s elections. The candid self-appraisal came during a policy retreat with the Senate Democratic caucus at the Washington Nationals’ stadium, part of a flurry of outreach efforts with congressional Democrats this week focused on crafting strategies for the midterms. “He said he knew he is not popular in some of the states so he would not be offended if he were not invited to visit them this year,” said one senator who requested anonymity to discuss the private meeting. “But he said he could be helpful in some parts of some states.”
"...Helpful in some parts of some states." Wow. Talk about diminishing the power of the bully pulpit. Obama has gone from being an in-demand President who could do no wrong to being an empty suit that someone might trot out if they're running in a liberal stronghold like California, New York, or Oregon. Everywhere else, he and his 'signature law' are sending Dems down the electoral toilet, and they all know it.
The meetings come amid rising anxiety among Democrats about the president’s pledge to work around Congress to advance his agenda and the effect his declining popularity might have on the midterms. Long-shot hopes of regaining the House appear to have faded after Obama’s failure to accomplish much of his agenda last year. In the Senate, Democrats in tough reelection races have begun to distance themselves from Obama. Sen. Mark Begich (Alaska) said in an interview with CNN last week that he is “not really interested in campaigning” with the president and would like to see him alter some of his policies.
Meanwhile, Democrat candidates across the country are opting to shy away from Obama speeches and appearances. This is particularly true in the increasing number of places where the Dems' midterm hopes are in doubt, like Louisiana and North Carolina. So congratulations to Democrats everywhere. Obama (along with his number one legislative achievement) has become so unpopular that he's not only destroying his own presidency, he's dragging his party down with it. Job well done.
