USA open for business just as the Founders envisioned, TrumpReaction from the democrat (socialist) left to President Trump’s assertion that the United States is open for business has been strange, to say the least. As promised, the president has worked diligently to swing wide the doors of commerce for America, renegotiating trade deals and lowering the hurdles for domestic manufacturers, luring them back to native shores.
The United States cannot, & will not, become such a difficult place to deal with in terms of foreign countries buying our product, including for the always used National Security excuse, that our companies will be forced to leave in order to remain competitive. We want to sell... ....product and goods to China and other countries. That’s what trade is all about. We don’t want to make it impossible to do business with us. That will only mean that orders will go to someplace else. As an example, I want China to buy our jet engines, the best in the World.... ....THE UNITED STATES IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS! @realDonaldTrump (February 18, 2020)
The question is why the idea of a prosperous America is such a trigger point for liberals. The answer can be found in the fundamental misunderstanding (de-educating) of the last two to three generations regarding the function of the union. Few who have flipped the tassel on their mortarboards upon receiving their college diplomas are able to recite the reason this nation was birthed. The Declaration of Independence plainly describes what colonists desired that was refused by the British Crown – "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."

Spoiled generations being taught to reject free enterprise

The gulf that separates current generations’ understanding from that of the Founders’ is comprehension that such a pursuit was embodied by the ability to create wealth and keep it. Britain kept its numerous colonies crushed under an iron fist of taxation and regulation that did one of two things – suppressed success or, if an individual managed to succeed in their endeavor, stripped them of their profits. [As an aside: It’s fascinating to see the coddled youth enjoying the perks of commerce such as electronics, entertainment and parent-supported schooling/living accommodations only to disparage how the money was made that supports their indulgent lifestyles.] It comes down to spoiled generations being taught to reject free enterprise despite the fact that commerce was at the heart of the United States’ founding. The purpose of confederating the individual republics – yes, every state was required to be established as an independent republic before it could be considered for statehood – was to encourage and protect the flow of trade across state lines, international borders and overseas. In Federalist Paper 41, James Madison wrote about the importance of building a military to protect property, which is accumulated through commerce. What is it that history has proven invading armies seek? Treasure. And a prosperous nation has an abundance of wealth that entices a strong force to attack, destroy the defenders, plunder their riches and cart off the spoils of war.

The Declaration of Independence states that "all men are created equal" but nowhere in that document or the Constitution is there a guarantee that all individuals have equal possessions

This is what Madison had to say about a need to form a federation:
That we may form a correct judgment on this subject, it will be proper to review the several powers conferred on the government of the Union; and that this may be the more conveniently done they may be reduced into different classes as they relate to the following different objects: 1. Security against foreign danger; 2. Regulation of the intercourse with foreign nations; 3. Maintenance of harmony and proper intercourse among the States; 4. Certain miscellaneous objects of general utility; 5. Restraint of the States from certain injurious acts; 6. Provisions for giving due efficacy to all these powers. … Security against foreign danger is one of the primitive objects of civil society. It is an avowed and essential object of the American Union. The powers requisite for attaining it must be effectually confided to the federal councils… The existing Confederation establishes this power in the most ample form. Is the power of raising armies and equipping fleets necessary? This is involved in the foregoing power. It is involved in the power of self-defense.
All of the foregoing is related to protecting commerce that creates individual wealth. [Another side note: The Declaration of Independence states that "all men are created equal" but nowhere in that document or the Constitution is there a guarantee that all individuals have equal possessions.] Securing safe travel across the territories or to and from foreign nations has everything to do with keeping traders and their goods safe from highwaymen on the roads and pirates on the high seas. Enmity between nations most often arose from quest for land and the fruits of those lands. The Colonies were subjects, paying taxes to the British monarch just as Persia, Rome, Ottoman, Mughal and other empires levied tribute upon vanquished nations.

Agriculture, manufactures, commerce, and navigation, the four pillars of our prosperity, are the most thriving when left most free to individual enterprise.

To escape subjugation by Britain, the Union of the American colonies was formed. Over 200 years it grew to a powerful nation of 50 states connected by a single purpose of protecting individuals’ abilities to succeed in creating goods and wealth that could feed themselves as well as other less fortunate people. The latter is called charity for the ‘educated’ who believe it should be replaced by a government-controlled welfare dole. The federal government has morphed into an octopus of administrative bureaucracies whose sole purpose is to regulate ("make regular" or equalize means and resources, as our legal researcher, Toddy Littman, would say) individuals’ endeavors to build an inheritance for their progeny. This is the reason why government categorizes everything as ‘commercial,’ including churches that have been pressured to incorporate. Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence and third president of the United States stayed true to the original purpose of this nation… that of protecting God-given rights of individuals to pursue life, liberty and happiness in their own way by creating wealth and distributing it according to their conscience. These are his words when he addressed Congress with his First Annual Message on December 8, 1801: Agriculture, manufactures, commerce, and navigation, the four pillars of our prosperity, are the most thriving when left most free to individual enterprise. Jefferson envisioned a nation that, as President Trump put it, would always be "open for business."
