Vatican Bishop Praises John Lennon’s 'Imagine' as “the Most Beautiful Song in the World”

Bishop Antonio Stagliano (Left), the President of the Pontifical Academy of Theology has publicly proclaimed that John Lennon's atheistic song Imagine is "the most beautiful song in the world."

In a video on May 18, Stagliano said,

"Let’s abolish religion, let’s abolish God, let’s abolish heaven. Who says that? John Lennon, in the most beautiful song in the world, Imagine.”

Can one IMAGINE a Vatican theologian uttering such nonsense?

In his song, John Lennon says, "Imagine there is no heaven, it's easy if you try, no hell below us, above us only sky... Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do, nothing to kill or die for, and no religion too."

So, we should wish there is no Heaven and imagine there is no Hell and should wish there are no countries (one-world government) "and no religion" to “die for.” The Church teaches us to die to self and especially extols the martyrs who are willing to die for their religion. It’s the highest form of Christianity.

As Jesus said, “Greater love than this no man has, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13). Christ here is speaking of the martyrs who die for their Faith. And to think that the Vatican’s top theologian must argue that Christ agrees with Lennon in opposing a God for whom one must die!

Lennon goes on to say in his song, "Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can." Funny that he should say that seeing that his estate is worth over a $billion and that he died with $200 million cash in his pocket, which today would be worth $900 million. His song feigns a remorse for greed, yet he drove a Bentley SI and lived in several notable mansions throughout his life. The man was swimming in greed and then he says “Imagine no possessions?”
