VIDEO: 11-year-old Indians fan styles for Miguel Cabrera

I sometimes think it's not fair that I'm a Detroiter. Not fair to the rest of you, that is. Oh sure, we have the shootings, the bankruptcy, the corruption . . . but we also have the pleasure of enjoying Miguel Cabrera on a daily basis. Not only is he the most amazing hitter I've ever seen - probably the best hitter in Tigers history with all due respect to Messrs. Cobb, Greenberg, Kaline and Trammell - but he's also an amazingly joyful human being.

So joyful, in fact, that even Indians fans sometimes can't help but get sucked into it. Then again, it helps if you're an 11-year-old kid with some style of your own. Watch and enjoy: The most amazing thing about this is that it's not that amazing. I get up close to the Tigers every year at Spring Training and this is standard behavior for Miggy. He loves interacting with the fans, and he'll not only gladly hand over balls (my son got one from him last year) but he'll also stand and talk with everyone during drills and workouts. This is a guy who's had some well-publicized incidents involving alcohol, at least two of which involved the police. But he's also a guy who from all evidence has rebuked those demons in his life and is now enjoying a wonderful time of happiness, success and prosperity - and he absolutely loves to share it with anyone around him. Even an Indians fan. Then again, one who's this bold and rambunctious deserves no less.
