VIDEO: Paul Ryan on 'A Confident America'

"That sounds like a long way from where we are now, doesn't it?"

The speech really speaks for itself, and it's well worth at least the 15 minutes or so to listen to the speech itself. The 20-minute Q&A that follows is really good too. I found the speech encouraging because look, I'll be honest, this year's election seems like a total trainwreck, and it leaves me wondering if there are any prospective leaders out there who want to lead in an optimistic and positive way. These 35 minutes restores my faith in that ideal. Now, I realize a lot of you consider Ryan some sort of RINO sellout traitor because of this or that on immigration, and for you, I ask you to consider what Ryan himself says about people who disagree with you not being an enemy or a traitor. Consider the full potential of a leader like Paul Ryan and ask yourself if it's a good idea to write him off completely because of one issue where he didn't do what you wanted him to do.

Just listen. My point here is not to push him for president, but rather to ask whether you think this message might be the one that resonates with the nation as opposed to the one we so often tend to put forward.
