New interview showcases Piers's incredible bravery

Violent Hollywood loves Piers Morgan, who’s receiving death threats

In a new interview with UK tabloid The Mirror, Piers Morgan lets England know that some of Hollywood's most famous action stars love his anti-gun crusade. Others, well, not so much.
Piers is proud to have the support of staunch gun control advocates like Jamie Foxx, a man who proudly proclaimed that he "got to kill all the white people" in his new movie Django Unchained. He's also supported by "extremely relevant superstars" such as Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty, both of whom have urged him to keep fighting. Singer Adele, hot off of her Oscar win for the theme to the shoot-em-up Bond film "Skyfall," has chimed in as well. "Tell Piers to keep going," she says. "He knows what I’m talking about." Piers seems particularly proud of the vote of confidence he received from Keifer Sutherland who, according to Morgan, approached the talk show host in an Italian restaurant, tapped him on the shoulder, and said "thank you."

“This," Piers says, "coming from Jack Bauer in 24 – the single bravest character in the history of television." First of all, the single bravest character in the history of television was Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks. Second, the key word here is fictional. How sad is it that Morgan is bragging about garnering the support of a non-existent person famous for his made-up willingness to shoot, kill, and torture? Not everyone, it seems, shares Hollywood's love of Morgan's crusade. You could probably figure this out from his ratings, which, last week, sunk to a new, multi-day, low of only 87,000 viewers in the key 18-49 demographic. Piers likes to ignore those numbers and focus on the death threats he's receiving. “It’s been pretty threatening and fairly menacing at times," Piers says. "You just have to read my Twitter to see I’ve had death threats every day. There are so many Americans who feel the same as me, who want some level of gun control introduced, but have been reluctant to put their heads above the parapet because of the threats. "My mother, for example, isn’t very keen on me putting my head above the parapet.” Oh Piers, you're so brave. Look, all of us who dabble in the political arena receive threats from the crazies. In all seriousness, it's frustrating, it's very sad, and no one, regardless of their opinions, should be subjected to it. It's not, however, unexpected - put your opinions out there, and some crackpot will try to intimidate you. Since they're not very smart, they usually do so with threats of physical violence. It's not limited to Piers and his gun control zealotry. I've yet to meet a single conservative who hasn't had to deal with this on a daily basis. So man up, Piers. You don't get a medal because you anger the loonies. It comes with the territory. Considering how long you've been in the business, you obviously know this. If you're really afraid that some psycho is going to try something, might we suggest buying a gun? They're great for self-defense.
