God job, Virginia!

Virginia Governor, Republican Bob McDonnell, signs Voter ID into law

Whether you believe voter fraud is a huge problem or just a minor annoyance, there's no way you can argue that it doesn't happen. Virtually every recent election has been marred by reports of people voting under fake names, voting multiple times, or casting fraudulent ballots. Supporters of Voter ID laws have long argued that there's a simple way to stop most of these problems from occurring: require a photo ID from each registered voter in order to cast a ballot.
It’s simple, quick, and prevents "disenfranchisement" by securing the process. In short, it's a no-brainer. So, obviously, Democrats hate it. They're out of luck in Virginia where, this afternoon, Republican Governor Bob McDonnell signed his state's Voter ID mandate into law. According to Reuters:
McDonnell signed the measure "with the recognition that almost all citizens already have acceptable forms of photo ID that would allow them to vote and a majority of voters support this policy," he said in a statement.

The legislation provides for free identification with the bearer's photo to any registered voter who does not have one. McDonnell also ordered the State Board of Elections to start a public information program to tell voters about the new requirement before the 2014 elections. Despite offering free ID's to legal voters, Democrats are - as always - screaming that this will suppress the votes of minorities and the poor. Apparently they feel their core constituents are either too stupid, too lazy, or are simply unwilling to get a free piece of identification. Since that's the way they think, you can expect a court challenge to be filed in, oh, five or six minutes. Democrats wouldn't dream of letting you exercise your right to purchase a gun without an ID, yet they want to leave the voting process completely open to the possibility of similar fraud and abuse. Never mind the fact that your vote affects far more people than a law-abiding gun owner ever will. As Obamacare proves, a ballot can impact matters of life or death. Shouldn't we be sure it was cast legally? Here at CainTV we realize we spend a lot of time on the virtually endless array of ways that politicians get things wrong, so we want to take a moment to congratulate Bob McDonnell on getting this 100% right. Now, if we could only make it a federal election law so that all 50 states would have the same protection that Virginia is about to enjoy....
