Nothing should make a priest happier then seeing bright young men, desiring to serve Our Lord at the Holy Altar, to offer the August Sacrifice of the God-Man for all Creation. To meet a seminarian, to see a seminarian is to give a priest a real joy, for he senses 'help is on the way'!

But it is with a heavy heart to see such good young men take the soutane in a seminary of the Society of St. Pius X. It makes me sad to think that they have had seek the priesthood outside the Church. I know, I know, loads of fire-breathing apologists of the SSPX will rain down upon me with a hundred invectives swearing on a thousand bibles … and Roman Missals … that, by jove, they indeed are part of the Church … just irregular. All I can say to this is: if you have to publish books, and hold conference after conference, and froth in com boxes to prove and demonstrate you are part of the Church … you have a serious problem. But the problem is much worse. The problem is that the SSPX doesn't just think it is part of the Church, it thinks it is the Church, the last remaining holy faithful remnant and that the rest of us schmucks are all in apostasy, kindling for hell. I certainly agree with their appraisal that the present situation is an unprecedented crisis in the life of the Church. Our Holy Mother, the Church has never been so afflicted as she is presently. On every side and deep within, the Church, Our Mother is being pierced with swords. What a tremendous mystery! It is a mystery however that requires a great and supernatural faith in God. More...
