The CEO launched a scathing attack on the problems plaguing his city (The Sun, May 10, 2024)

The above article greeted me upon returning from a meeting with neighbors.

Ironically, crime concerns we discussed mirrored those of featured gas station chain owner.

My capitalist friends know I'm not a big fan of corporations. Conversely, they also know my love for small businesses and social entrepreneurs providing much needed goods and services to working class/middle class urban neighborhoods.

The plight of besieged businesses is shared by captive citizens transversing terror and turmoil to patronize them.

Small to mid sized businesses are part of the life support system for areas. Our friends of the enabling ideology have assisted enterprises large and small in fleeing areas where their ideology filled civic space with too many felons.

I've long advocated community security grants and tax credits for businesses, neighborhood associations and non profits to defray cost of hiring private protectors or off duty police for security.
