This year I find it a bit ironic that the “tea parties” being held around the country on April 15, 2009 are to send a message that we already pay too much of our earned incomes on taxes, when the onslaught of government spending by the Obama Administration and its liberal Democrat Congress will ignite the biggest tax burdens on the people ever in the history of our nation.
I wish part of the message of the 2009 “Tea Parties” was to tell everybody whose fault it is that we are in this mess and losing more ground every day, feeling and looking hopeless at ever recovering our country.
Oh, we know who is DOING the dirty work right now that is rapidly burying us in this sea of debt from which we will never survive. None other than the liberal Democrats, and while we're at it, let's get that straight as well. ALL Democrats now have to be considered to be liberal as they vote in lockstep for all the things that are bad for America for one simple reason: BECAUSE THEY CAN.
They are so driven with the power-mad notion that they can now force ANYTHING they wish on the country that with each successive vote in Congress they drive the Republicans further and further into oblivion. It will take years before the liberals realize that they are harming themselves when they harm the country, but right now it feels so good to them to be able to sock it to the Republicans they are blind to any other negative fallout that will also occur to injure the country.
OK. The Democrats en masse are DOING the dirty work, but who gave them permission or the opportunity to do it? It might shock you fellow Americans when I tell you that the culprits who handed this gift of hammer-diplomacy and iron-fisted control to the Democrats were none other than the Republicans.
The GOP could have enacted legislation to downsize our federal superstructure and not enacted money draining legislation like the No Child Left Behind fiasco and others that should have favored reductions in taxes through less spending, but they didn’t even introduce any such measures. It was very nearly no different than if the liberals had been in charge.
That's right, the Republicans who had been in power and had total control of the United States government from the White House to both houses of Congress, failed to enact any sort of legislation when they had the power to do so, that showed superior fiscal leadership diminishing the chances the Democrats could quickly regain control of all of those branches of government as alarmingly swift as they did starting in 2006 and completing their takeover in the 2008 elections.
In just those few years the Republicans were so un-conservative in their leadership actions they accomplished for the Democrats what those liberals could never have done for themselves, the minor miracle of not only regaining control and power over all of America, which could change forever, the way we will now live.
We have been taken over by a party of power hungry zealots lead by a slick-talking, totally unqualified and not even legal, foreign agent who now sits in the office of the presidency and is pushing hard for socialism for the nation to be followed by a progressive and steady acceptance of more Islamic customs and perhaps, even laws.
His appointments, also unqualified and of highly suspect regard for normal laws that the rest of us are expected to observe, are insidiously turning us over to a corrupt and immoral United Nations to be under the thumb of third world dictators not too far down the road and opening our borders to admit all sorts of anti-American thugs and criminals.
Sadly, our chief of Homeland Security is welcoming open borders to assist these criminals and terrorists in their quest to take over all of our lands that our forefathers and veterans have secured for us with their blood. She even condemns our modern veterans calling them terrorist threats to their own country for which they just risked their lives.
Had our Republicans taken control and managed in a strongly conservative manner maintaining the usual governance of smaller government as conservatives are noted for, the Democrats would not have been able to oust them from their positions of power. Our Republican leaders in all three branches of government failed us allowing the liberals to move in with their corrupt and illegal money gained from foreign sources and moved the Republicans right out.
Forget 2010 and definitely 2012; Republicans won't see any victories of significant value for decades; that is IF there is any country left to salvage after the years of liberal and foreign corruption have raped us.
We need more than a Messiah to counteract these zealots that STILL, after all the obvious damage that has been done to our financial structure, are being supported by a majority of American citizens. The Kool-Aid served by the current messiah has not lost its magic elixir and power to control with just a simple speech to their sheep on a weekly basis.

Gerald A. “Jerry” McConnell, 92, of Hampton, died Sunday, February 19, 2017, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, Mass., surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 27, 1924 in Altoona, Pa., the fifth son of the late John E. and Grace (Fletcher) McConnell.
Jerry served ten years with the US Marine Corps and participated in the landing against Japanese Army on Guadalcanal and another ten years with the US Air Force. After moving to Hampton in 1957 he started his community activities serving in many capacities.
He shared 72 years of marriage with his wife Betty P. (Hamilton) McConnell. In addition to his wife, family members include nieces and nephews.
