Unflagging honest conservatism and open Christian faith

Who is the Real Hypocrite?

Esquire Magazine surprised me today by publishing an honest, fair and factual account regarding Sarah Palin. Mrs. Palin has been under attack lately by both those on the left and on the right. No surprise there because the left hates her because of her unflagging honest conservatism and open Christian faith. The right hates her because of her unflagging honesty. You don’t believe me? Then why is it that the only candidate the GOP put up for Nevada Secretary of State already has a few legal problems surfacing? Check out this story.

This is the link to the story in Esquire, if you wish to read the whole thing. I will discuss a few of its points here. First, let’s cover the current flap over Sarah Palin’s supposed healthcare hypocrisy. The liberals claim that Palin is a proven hypocrite because she took trip after trip over to Free Healthcare Canada rather than access the high-priced corrupt US healthcare system. The story was broken by Palin’s parents and what they described apparently happened before Sarah was of the age of consent. Chuck and Sally are her parent’s first names. "We lived in Skagway for five years," Chuck said. "And at that time the railroad went from Skagway to Whitehorse, and that was our lifeline. There was no road out of Skagway when we lived there." "We appreciated it so much," Sally said. "Anytime there was something serious, we'd get on the train and go to the hospital there, and they'd be so kind to take care of us." I can hear the critics now. “See!” They scream, their voices rising in pitch and cracking as the spittle flies from their lips, “See! She wants the poor to die because they can’t get free abortions…and SHE travels to Canada for their free healthcare, and SHE isn’t even Canadian!” Yes, but she was taken there by train because the train from Skagway to Whitehorse was the only route you could take, especially in winter. Try looking at a map and if you know a liberal, show them how to use one. It is amazing how little time it takes the liberal bloggosphere to decide they know all there is to know about a person they have never met. What disheartens me is that far too many in the so-called conservative talk media seem to have the same ability. You have to remember, Palin entered the spotlight only 18 months ago. This morning I listened to a young man sitting in for Las Vegas local host Alan Stock. He brought up the Palin story, mentioning the supposed hypocrisy without even attempting to dig deeper. If he had he would have discovered his error, but I doubt any attempt will be made since based on several of the on air comments I've heard made by the hosts and management, that station seems to have an anti-Palin administrative stance. The other point the bloggers try to push is Palin’s abandonment of her office before her term ended. They claim it was so she could begin her book tour, but based on archival evidence, the reason Sarah herself gives is far more believable. In addition, I know all too well what she and her family went through, having been in a similar position myself. Very few people can understand what goes on within a family when one member is under unrelenting unwarranted continual attack, and especially when that attack includes lawsuit after lawsuit. At the very least it becomes awfully expensive in both time and finances. By quitting when she did she did two things for her constituency. One, she eliminated an ongoing drain on Alaska’s budget, and two, she fulfilled her promise that she would not waste Alaska’s resources on frivolous expenditures, and there is nothing more frivolous than a leftwing lawsuit for imagined insult. I think part of the anger the left has toward this woman is because when she left office she also became a private citizen. That change gave her back the power to sue those coming after her for both libel and slander, which interestingly enough removes two of the lefts’ favorite weapons. The other reason is her adherence for family. If you look at the state of political fidelity today it is practically nonexistent. Sarah and her husband are not only faithful to each other, they are (to the political world) sickeningly in love with each other. They are not only married, but happily married. I doubt there is a single member of the mass media that can stand being in the presence of such a thing. Their idiotic suit attempting to prove their inane theory that Trig was not Sarah’s son is a prime example. The fact that some supposedly conservative writers continue that fiction is an example of another sort. Neither the powers that be on the left or the right are comfortable with honest fidelity. They can neither trust it nor stomach it, and Sarah Palin exemplifies both honesty and fidelity. On the left we have, coming forward in time, Gary Hart, Barney Frank, who can apparently flaunt all morality laws and still get elected, Bill Clinton, James McGreevey, who did a Barney Frank but lost afterwards, Antonio Villaraigosa, Eliot Spitzer, and John Edwards. On the right they line up as Bob Packwood, Bob Livingston, who thought a mistress was more attractive than the House Speaker position, Jack Ryan, who single handedly gave us Barrack Obama because his infidelity cost him that US Senate seat, Mark Foley, David Vitter, Larry Craig, John Ensign, and of course, Nevada’s own John Ensign and Jim Gibbons. Is it any wonder that a couple such as the Palins drives the political establishment right up the wall? Currently many on the conservative side fault Sarah Palin for not siding with certain Tea Party candidates over GOP choices. Again, these criticisms come from a lack of inside knowledge. Sarah knows from personal experience the differences between being an effective legislator and an ineffective one. If you are sitting in a chair with enough of a minority status that you cannot even filibuster, you will get absolutely nothing done but the occasional symbolic gesture, and symbolism does nothing. Mrs. Palin knows full well that in order to do what is necessary to put the United States back into the position it should occupy, being that of the freest, strongest and wealthiest nation on earth, we have to have the majority party be comprised of conservatives. She is going to be telling us all about that in Harry Reid’s hometown of Searchlight, NV on March 27th. After that she comes to Las Vegas, and yes, this is a Tea Party affair. Yes, we need to vote for conservatives to reach our goal. But, we have to start with conservatives we can get elected, and that takes steps. If you cannot understand that, please, don’t vote until you do.
