Why is Google's news search now referring to the attorney general as 'Jefferson Sessions'?

Or if you really want the full version, click the search link and you'll see him referred to in some lefty headlines as "Jefferson Beauregard Sessions." That's not how he refers to himself, of course. He's just Jeff Sessions. That's what he's been his entire political career. But apparently now even people's names are partisan, and if there's an opportunity to make an ordinary guy sound like . . . oh, say, the president of the Confederacy? Can't pass that up, right? Certainly not if you're Slate, HuffPo or TPM. But Google News? Not that anyone mistook them for Fox News, but I guess no one's even bothering to pretend anymore Why is Google's news search now referring to the attorney general as 'Jefferson Sessions'?
Now I'm assuming you all know your history, so you know that the most prominent person in U.S. history to be known by the first name Jefferson was Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederacy. And of course P.G.T. Beauregard was a confederate military officer of considerable note. When the left insists that the Confederacy was a racist institution, it will get no argument from me. But everyone whose full name sounds similar to that of a man who once led a racist institution is not a racist. Jeff Sessions didn't choose his own name, and he doesn't go around referring to himself as Jefferson Beauregard Sessions. And even if he did, so what? That's his name! Ronald Reagan Jr. is a huge liberal, but his name is still Ronald Reagan. It's just his name. I'm not surprised that the left is referring to Sessions in this way, because they pull cheap crap like that all the time. Change the way you refer to a person in order to make him sound racist. Why not? If the left can't convince the world that Republicans are racist, it's got precious little else to talk about. But apparently Google's co-opting of the left's rhetoric knows no bounds and no shame. If there's a distinction left between the left and the media, I'll be damned if I can tell you what it is.
